GNUSMAS That's odd, the old version already damaged it, how come the new one didn't?
You wouldn't mind sending me your new version btw?
The range of the flak is limited due to the placement btw, so ramming the front should allow your missiles to slip by and hit the back. You're gonna take some damage from the flak tho, so you should do it before your frontal armor gets destroyed.

So I started making a new ship, for longer range engagements, and it's not nearly finished yet, it needs more missiles, thrusters and I haven't even started on the internals yet, however I'd like some constructive criticism before I go much further with the design

Also ignore the mess of a control room next to the thrusters, I just slapped that on for a weapons test and forgot to remove it

darkdragon396 for GCW 4 phantom reactors produce more energy than one normal reactor and you have massive central reactor spam. the frontal nukes and railguns do not nearly have enough protection

GNUSMAS How do I say that? Get rid of that nuke. They are incredibly slow, their factories explode violently and a dual railgun would deal way more damage. Other than that, you should replace the cannons with side-facing flak/pd, add at least one more CR and seperate the thruster modules, to increase crew efficiency and get rid of like half of the quarters.

chief_chaman478 Gimme a moment, I'm still looking for something with similar cost. Flak only is an interesting choice tho, might be the small fireing angle is a big disadvantage on this design.

Fort_Master_Gustav You could possibly borrow me a ~500.000 ship? Seems like I don't have anything even close to that cost...

GNUSMAS i am not a teacher but ,though it seems alright, there are a few problems: the shields on the missles will not hold due to the crew prioritising loading the launchers
the flak on the back may be a bit overkill, a few pds could do
the nuke as CursedPh4nt0m said is uterly useless and should be replaced by a ailgun
here is a missile module that has a shield module within itself

CursedPh4nt0m if you dont have anything feel free to use something more exspensive just interested

chief_chaman478 You do know that module is a massive waste of reactor power tho?
Okay, hope I've got something below 700.000....

CursedPh4nt0m yes but better to protect the module and waste some power than to leave it unprotected

chief_chaman478 My modules run on only one reactor and still have their shields powered.
About your ship: The basic idea is working just fine, but the flak stops targetting projectiles once the enemy gets into weapon range, completely dropping it's defensive advantage. I'd have to test it against something more expensive than 350.000 to give you actual feedback tho.
Edit: Finally found something, seems like the flak really was a good choice. Just keep in mind it's rather easy to flank, as the thruster placement barely supports turning.
Edit 2: Just had another round against my first I/C-Wall version and watched your ship chain-explode in the first ten seconds. Seems like you've got to put some internal armor.

    CursedPh4nt0m
    I also don't have anything, I only have bout 7 ships now (quite the decrease from my 500) because, about 1 hour after IVI elected me the first tourney manager, a fucking lightning fried my computer ;-;
So now I only have ships absurdly shitty laptop, who can't even run a 1.5 mil game, seriously, it's suffering.
Just make a wall, it's fast to do so :p

Fort_Master_Gustav Luckily found an old design from Oneye in a sub-folder, guess having a cannon wall fight it would've resulted in the same disaster as the run against the I/C-prototype (which costs around 900.000 to be fair). Thanks none the less and know I feel bad for you and your computer.

Aisling (Sorry, wanted to have a look at it some time ago, but forgot about it until now. 😅 )
      Sooo...
The inner missile launchers only get the one missile through the gap. You should add at least one quarter to those modules btw.

The last railgun segment is way too large for a single reactor to power.
      image https://i.imgur.com/iQaxFV8.png

You should check the power-management of the outer thrusters.

Use power storage to keep the corner pd running longer.

Additional to their limited range, laser and eb projectiles get shot down by flak rather easily.
      image https://i.imgur.com/Y1A9ODR.png

You should also check your entire door placement, quite some doors are unnecessary or placed wrong.

chief_chaman478 CursedPh4nt0m The corridors were there while I worked on the outside, also In the time taken for a reply, I've somewhat finished the ship (Still needs more testing and optimizing).
I'll use the advice in the next version, thanks

Don't question why it is pink.
Also, most of the combat compartments are made by myself, are they decent?

darkdragon396 It took a while, but I finally managed to have a look at your ship.
The first thing I've got to say is (deep breath to calm down) you've committed way too much armor.

        • This thing has more armor than anything else and way too few thrusters for a ship merely half as large and filled with structure instead

        • The railguns need better powering, most dual-pd and the rear capital laser turrets too

        • A dual shield layer isn't enough to protect the penetration cannons against ships of similar cost. The flak and the nuke launchers aren't shielded good enough neither

        • Those clustered pd will hardly protect you from all incoming missiles

        • The flak is rather useless, it doesn't target any lasers and any enemy ship will have lots of those

        • Not. Enough. Thrust.

        • Many energy sources are too far away from the things they're supposed to power

        • Too much wasted space

        • Use modules or at least actual compartments

        • The penetration cannons don't get enough ammo

        • Bad distribution of basically everything

        • Reactor clumps/lines

        • No FE in the upper half of your ship

        • Poor door placement

Guess I could go on if I bothered enough, but that's already enough for you to fix.
