Aisling It's not entirely my own work neither. Alpha gave me the round thruster module and some inspiration for the cannon module with pd and helped me with the missile launchers, the EB module with power storage is something I got from one of Equalizers ships and the inner structure of the railgun is inspired by a similar layout from Oneye. We all share our experience and tricks here, that's why even the teachers occasionally ask for help on their designs.
GNUSMAS Let me do a list of all the issues I've spotted so far:
-
A single generator can power up to twelve railgun accelerators
-
One HE-missile factory can supply two missile launchers
-
I occasionally do it too (on really large ships), but making an extra module only for the control room is extremely wasteful
-
The frontal shield/pd module can easily run on a single reactor, you might have a second one or power storage for backup tho
-
The thrusters are too clumped for a ship that long, making it rather unmaneuverable
-
Your ships lacks backwards thrust
-
Having only a single CR is rarely a good point
-
Using some flak instead of pd on the front would make for way better missile defense
-
The railgun is somewhat short, given you've got that much space
-
You used too much armor to fill the ship
-
There's enough space to add some more shields in front of the railgun
-
Consider making the ship wider and adding a second railgun
-
You should add some EMP-missiles against shields and pd
I'd rather have @Alpha take care of you, the only time I worked with a similar design was when modifying his 'Chariot'. He hasn't got any time this week tho, guess I'll have to teach you what I know until he's back then.
Those designs are generally better at fighting single targets, flankers can become quite dangerous for them. You'll also be lost against kiters, splitters, my 'Castle Archer' (or any other design with an excessive amount of flak) and anything fast enough to get to your back.
While the designs above are rather likely to easily deal with your ship, most other designs (exept well-designed triangles with some flak) will likely get obliberated by the missiles.
I'm likely gonna regret it, but I'll have you beat the big brother of my I/C-Wall first.
It's got barely enough missile defense to keep mostly intact, adding some more launchers and increasing the defenses should be enough against this one. No worries, I've already got a second one too:
The 'Dragonfly 2.5' - a modified version of the original design by Lukz2cool.
(The flak is way less effective against missiles than it seems, but you shouldn't underestimate it none the less.)
