A piercing sound fills JTAE comms, as the ships halt and engage a defensive formation.
Hundreds of signatures are spotted launching from the old STE ships, as screeching fills ally and enemy comms alike.
Some of the ships even crack open, revealing large semi biological ships, previously hidden from view.
Now closer to the forge, almost a hundred thousand missile sized drones are launched from the creatures, and swarm together to form a physical barrier in front of the force as they move.
The drones seem to have no weapons, and presumably must rely on ramming their targets.
Five seperate swarms of drones surge towards the star forge, seemingly moving at close to the speed of light.
Their speed bypasses most ships in their way, although some installations and defence ships are hit as the swarms pass, making holes and starting fires.
Their target seems to be the compressor rings...
