So, I haven´t tried that n´all that, but you could try messing with some of the AI values since I´m not sure if it only affects the targeting AI, could be also that it affects the priority with which the weapon is used(attack range/direction during battle), though, this is all just speculation.
nah, even when a ship got only my melee weapon it still stay at a certain distance of ennemy ships.
tho it does not do that with this mod melee weapon. i looke at its code but there was nothing particular.
so i wonder if there is some special value to put somewhere (maybe the AI value will do something about it but it would be strange if that is the case)

What is the ammo/energy consumption on the machine guns supposed to be like? Because while they won't fire before getting energy and ammo boxes, only the double minigun seems to consume ammo while firing, and none of them seem to use energy after the initial battery even after a minute of continuous firing.

CGDW All machine guns slowly consume energy in a small amount. M134-dual consumes it 10 times less than 32-mm machine guns (as they have shields). The total discharge time of 32-mm machine gun is 200 seconds, and M134-dual—1000 seconds.
The ammo consumption is also simple: with continuous firing M134-dual spends all the ammo in about 15 seconds, and 32-mm machine gun only after 100 seconds (they have a significant difference in the rate of firing).
