Q: Who inspired this mod?
TheLastBeacon I was thinking that maybe that there should be a mod or separate build box to make a flag in. These would automatically be animated. This would be great for factions or a fleet of ships in bounty mode.
Q: Can I replace the flag with my country / faction flag?
Yes, you can. And no coding is required.
1) Locate the mod folder at
Documents\My Games\Cosmoteer\Mods\hologram_flag
2) Replace default flags found under Flags subfolder:
Flags\flag.png and/or
Flags\flag2.png
with your flag in recommended dimensions:
- width: 512 pixels
- height: 256 pixels
3) Restart the game.
4) Load your saved game to see new flag flying.
Q: My flag looks distorted or less wavy. How can I improve the flag?
Flag effects would look better when the flag image
- Is prepared in 2:1 ratio; eg, width: 512px; height: 256px
- Is in landscape orientation
- Has clear patterns stretched across the flag
Q: Are there another alternative if I do not know how to prepare a flag?
You may look out for Namek's Decoration Mod which supports hand-crafted flags via the thread Compilation of all Mods on the Forum, OR support jbox1's Flag mod

Yes, the mod adopts Apache license v2.0 which enables freely use, modify, distribute, & even sell the mod.
