Suddenly, the ship began to rumble, a few moments later the alarms across all decks went off, the 'Warlord' looked around...
"Curses. Suppose I´ll have to take the shortcut then."
The rumbling grew stronger with every second that passed, at the current rate it would likely rip teh ship apart within teh next few minutes, then...
It was gone, the rumbling was gone, so was this odd Warlord...
...after a few moments of realization, they noticed another thing was gone, the alarms were all deactivated, most of the systems were offline and gravity had changed, though part of the sensor array was still functional...

...
In the complete darkness that ensued, they heard violent whispers in their heads and mainframes, even those who had no capability of experiencing 'feelings' felt an instinctual primordal fear, something felt wrong... something was coming, observing, feasting on their sanity.
...
It was unknown how much time had passed, but once the crews came back to their senses, the mainframes reconnected with their sensor networks, they found themselves stranded with their ships at the outer bounds of the wall of black mist, which marked teh border of teh former Cult territory...
However, the core had changed, where it was before, as fog, wavering, moving, constantly forming and reforming into fantastical and ominous shapes, It now stood like a literal wall, covered in the mist, the surface beyond seemed to be solid and almost perfectly flat.
From this surface, a number of impossibly large monolithic tendrils extended, far beyond thier sight into infinity...
What had just happened...?
