Further Plasma Weapon ideas
1. Plasma Repeater
This powerful weapon fires five plasma bolts in a row, each one dealing impressive damage and eating up a fifth of the weapon's large energy storage. Because of their large power drain, Plasma weapons are mostly useful as Alpha Strike weapons. The Repeater is a 'Phased' Plasma weapon, meaning it deals high damage to shields, and lower damage to armor blocks. It still does high damage to components and sets fires easily. 2x2, cannon design.
2. Phased Ion Cannon
A powerful Plasma weapon, this is the 'large' Plasma weapon, and fires large Plasma bolts that require both energy and a core of some sort - the electronics found in Missile components work excellently for this purpose, and the PIC will accept them. Each large Plasma bolt will do massive splash damage to armor, set huge amounts of fires, and deal decent damage to components. However, it does very little damage to shields. 4x5, fires from the 5.
3. Fusion Coil
This small-sized Plasma weapon fires helical bolts of Plasma at the target, starting fires and slagging armor. While 'cheap' for a Plasma weapon, they still require a dedicated Reactor to keep running due to steep energy costs per shot. 1x3, fires from the 1.
4. Telumach Coils
A highly experimental weapon, this weapon launches Plasma bolts at extremely high speed, travelling nearly instantly to the target and the impact dispersal results in a huge splash radius - nearly 10 blocks in radius! However, its damage is severely reduced, and it deals a piddling 1 damage to shields per hit. It also fires slowly, and devours energy to fire. 2x3, fires from the 3.
5. Lased Repeater
Not a Plasma weapon, but still worth mentioning. The Lased Repeater fires a large series of low-damage shots of lased light, which (though short ranged before dissipating to uselessness) deal massive bonus damage to shields, allowing ships that successfully close the gap to 'brute force' through shield arrays. Shockingly energy efficient; holds 3 batteries at a time and each battery fuels 20 shots. 1x1, similar design to the PD, but bulkier turret.
And, just as an idea for all these weapons, though it's not a weapon on its own:
6. Diamond Glass
Designed for protecting vulnerable ship components and laser weapons, Diamond Glass is nearly as tough as Armor Blocks, but is able to be shot through by allied energy weapons safely, without impeding the shot at all. Mostly meant for protecting Ion Beam Emitters, they also work on any Laser weapon. Does not allow shots to pass through from Missile Launchers, Cannons, or Plasma weapons. Slightly more expensive than regular Armor Blocks, and does not come in the 2x1 design.
