Stay optimistic. Time will fly and they'll be gone before you even realize. I personally never had much trouble with them (apart from not being able to eat a couple things properly and needing to brush my teeth more often). The removal was slightly annoying, but that was about it for me.
I had more trouble with the ridiculous "brick" I had to put in my mouth for over a year, combined with some sort of metal wire that looked like this:
Yes it was attached to my head with elastics, looking weird. Sleeping with it even felt strange. (Good thing I only needed to wear it after school and at night.)
Perhaps that's why I didn't care much about the braces. I was actually happy for them to replace the less subtle things in my mouth. š
