The first thing they notice, is the surprising amount of light that is reaching the surface.
Although noticeable from the shuttle, the light is surprising none the less.

Barely visible through the fog and dense foliage, a massive automated Anti air gun turret sits inactive near the facility's parking, easily firing shells as big as half a person.
Had it been on, their descent may not have been so easy...

The drones find that the transmissions stop some distance from the surface, and only the distress call remains.
The gas is seemingly uninteresting on first glance, although a complex amount of research will need to be done before anything is certain about it.

The drones find what others already have, the remains of a long dead civilisation, taken over by plant life and the remains of nuclear detonations.

The plants are... Well, plants.
They offer no real resistance to any attempt to sample them of course.
At first, there seems to be no other data that could be salvaged from this mess, but then they spot a sign:
Dynamic genetics, the world leaders in genetic research.
Really, nothing they already knew.

Heading towards the location of the signal they all spot the main entrance to the facility.

The walkway goes on for some distance, before cutting into a hill and ending at a set of blast doors.
A single light hangs down, flickering in the low light of the entrance.
More plants have grown, spreading and hanging from the roof in a pretty but obstructive display.

The button to the door somehow, has power.
Likely an internal power generator has kept the facility active, although how it has done so well on its own is questionable.

Behind the same hill, should be the transmitter array.

Jenwuf Kaavex looked at the AA gun, and then looked back... He walked forward, kneeled, and collected a single plant, before dropping it... Why did they do this to themselves? That question was in his mind... He walked forward to the main facility entrance, and looked at the button... He started scanning it using his suit's scanners, while the rest of the guards walked with him. Deleer and Sojan walked as well, taking scans.

Mark sends the two of his guards to examine the trasmissor array, then meets up with Kaavex near the blast doors:
[MARK]:Pleasure to meet you, I'm Mark, Lead researcher of this expedition, my man are examining the transmissor array and will try to disable it as we'll set up our own beacons with the main body of the bureau and we don't want any more people joining in, we should be careful tackling this problem though, a civilization, even though not that technologically advanced, should still bear some kind of danger in a run-down post-war facility.

The button is wired up to some kind of internal computer system responsible for opening the main blast door.
The blast door has been set to close should an internal problem arise that requires the complete isolation of the facility from the rest of the world.

Pressing this button will result in the opening of the bunker...

The door itself is very thick, and is simply made of a mix of various hard solid materials.
It is practically not openable by any other means.

they reach the array without issue, and the huge tower looms over them ominously...
A set of power transformers sits next to it, with multiple switches giving power to the transmitter array...

Although strangely, the power seems low... as if the facility is struggling to keep up with the demand.
It is possible that turning it off, or disabling it... manually, would result in other devices being powered up.

Fort_Master_Gustav Kaavex, while scanning the doors and the button, looked over his shoulder... "Oh. Greetings, I'm High Archon Kaavex of the Illateri Sovereignty."

The guards look at the tower, then at the flak turret, then back at the tower... One of them goes over to turret and dissables it, by detonating some small explosives that he carried inside the barrels, bending them beyond repair and making a loud noise, whildst the other deactivated the power line that powered the transmitter.

@RedAndCosmoteer Before Mark can speak again a loud explosion noise is heard, then he speaks:

[Mark]:Well that was one of my boys dealing with the transmitter, it seeems, don't worry, you can relay communications using our newly set up beacons, so, are we going in or not?

The other two guards arrive, together with a single researcher, which explains that they've collected samples but he should probably go into the facility to aquire more data, to which Mark agrees.

"Weapons hot." Kaavex orders through the radio, Mark and his Burean guards hear a faint humming noise, coming from the weapons of the fifteen guards and the three Archons. Deleer and Sojan point their pistols at the blast door, while Kaavex closes his eyes and places his hand on the button, and presses it-

(NOTE: due to the destruction of the transmitter, any further exploration is unlikely to find the location without prior detailed knowledge ~~and because I will take far too long responding to too many people XD~~)

The door hisses, and an alarm sounds.
Heavy metal clattering against more metal is all that can be heard, before the door begins to open slowly...

Inside is pitch black, before lights begin to turn on.
Fog floods inside, seemingly the area inside being clean of it until now.
Inside is barebones, but still decently nice looking apart from the mass amount of dust that has gathered inside.

It becomes apparent from a panel on the inside wall, that this is an elevator down to the facility.

A speaker begins to play an automated message:
"Welcome to Dynamic Genetic's main research facility!
It has been [14,262] Days, since this elevator was used!
As you can see from the number, we are here every day!
Have a nice visit."

The panel inside lists only one destination, Floor -1

Mark presses somewhere on his helmet, which then activates a small, dim red light in part of the visor, whatever the helmet's recording it's beaming it to the beacons and sending it back to the BUREAU, he steps into the elevator, with the other two guards and researcher

The team of fifteen guards and the three Archons step into the elevator, and they all (somehow) fit into it. All their weapons are hot, and their HUDs are on, scanning, and displaying all the statuses of their weapons.

The elevator is cramped, although with no warning whatsoever, a less secure non-airtight cage slams shut locking them inside.
Everyone looks towards the elevator floor selector panel, which despite having had no-one pressed it, is making the elevator move down towards level -1...

And so began the second most arkward elevator journey in the history of the cosmoverse, as everyone looked at eachother for potentially being the person that pressed the button.

On the way down, the elevator stops numerous times, grating against rust and other debris making a horrid noise.
Air ventilation is beggining to suck away the fog, and for the first time sensors indicate that oxygen levels have overtaken the amount of unknown gas in the local atmosphere.

Finally, the large elevator stops at the right floor, with a distorted dinging sound the outer door begins to try to open...
It seems, that the elevator cage door is fine, but the inner door to the facility is jammed half shut.
Only one side opens, and those inside can peer around the other to see a well lit entrance hall covered in a thick coating of dust from almost fourty years of emptiness...

As they descend, scans become more and more irratic and potentially misleading.
Three different scans find three different results:

The entrance hall is as before mentioned covered in dust...
There is a lack of fog in here, suggesting that the fog actually came from somewhere else.
The walls are tiled and painted white, presumably for ease of cleaning.

To their front, is a simple rounded front desk on the rear wall, painted in blue and white, with a rather impressively high tech PC atop. It is currently turned off.
Chairs are knocked over behind it, as if someone left in a hurry.

To their left is a pile of boxes with a note pinned to the topmost one.
The words: "Take these down to sector 5C asap" written neatly on the paper.

To their right is just another wall.

Two open doors sit either side of the front desk, and one door behind the desk.
The doors seem to all lead to a hallway.

The ships are greeted by the same transmissions as all the other vessels, except for a lack of the distress call.
Locating it would be difficult, but not entirely impossible.

The planet seems to almost call them closer with the transmissions and lights...
