The sight below them, now they are within the fog, is a sight that truly worries them.
Despite seeing visual signs of a busy active city, the lights are gone, and below them sits a towering mass of crumbling buildings and overgrown plants.
Nothing but plant life remains, having completely taken back the land that is so rightfully mother nature's to take.
As they fly over the landscape, a sense of dread fills them, knowing that it has been so long since the destruction of this civilisation, that everything is gone...
As they had reached the surface, all of the other signals but the distress call suddenly stopped, making locating it easy...
Worse news arrives later as they fly towards the source of the signal...
Craters, many of them.
All overgrown now, but radiation detection equipment identifies them all as being from multiple nuclear blasts.
Thankfully, not all places seem to have been hit, but some "minor" nuclear war perhaps destroyed much of what was left...
They reach the facility unharmed, although with numerous lighting strikes coming close.
All that could be considered for landing, is a large open concrete area, a parking lot, presumably.
The distress signal seems to be coming from a transmitter atop a hill near the parking area.
Sensors indicate the arrival of @Fort_Master_Gustav 's ship.

The satellite seems to be ridiculously old, matching the overall idea of late 21st century satellite design.
This places them between 2020-2080, since the satellite itself could just be an old model still in orbit.
The only place to land is a large square concrete area, what was once a parking lot, but it seems to be mainly empty.
The surrounding plant life has grown a ridiculous amount, resulting in trees being in almost any space not occupied by a building or road, and even then some plants grow there anyway.
The signal seems to be coming from a transmitter atop a hill near the parking area.
Sensors indicate the arrival of @RedAndCosmoteer 's shuttle.
