The UoL fleet was broken with the loss of the Elara, the command corvette leading the division...
The three Polaris cruisers continued to pummel the charging corvettes, continuing their maneuver to expose the enemy to allied forces. A turning N.R. cruiser manages to slam an unfortunate UoL ship with its shield like an insect on the windshield of a speeding car, vaporizing it on contact. Unfortunately for the allied forces, the corvette run was a success, bringing down the shields of the Polaris Class that demolished the Elara. With several cruise missiles to its thrust compartment, the ship's rear erupts in a chain of massive explosions, immobilizing the cruiser...

The crew of the remaining UoL corvettes gain confidence from their "victory," sticking close to the NR cruiser group as they tear down the unshielded Polaris Class...
War Room crew stare at the scarlet holomap, counting losses and reading energy signatures. The FTL energy readings concerns one of the tacticians.
"Men, it appears that the invaders are charging up their drives, FTL-based to be specific. They could be planning a retreat... or they could be using it to power a weapon..."
"FTL, you say? We lack interdictors! There's no way that we could prevent them from using that FTL energy."
"...and that is why we are sticking to the sides of the cruiser group. Whatever affects us may affect them - if it is a weapon, that is."
