He sees that the Empress has no intention of sending away the child, and carries on

He looks uncomfortable

Brian shuffles his feet, a human gesture he has picked up

He produces Lance's Katana, it is tarnished and pockmarked from the explosion, and a chunk of the handle is missing, he hands it to the empress
