Walt I certainly agree that the RoD in LPS is really awkwardly small. But even at the currently really-small size, players still wait a few minutes for the RoD to shrink even smaller before engaging, as we saw today in the tournament. If I make it bigger, players will just wait longer for it to shrink back down, and so making it bigger won't actually solve the problem at hand and will just make the beginning of LPS battles even more boring.

Waiting before engaging wasn't the best strategy in those games where it happened. You really can't force people to act, unless you spawn their ships right at the edge of the ring. The incentive isn't obvious enough.

Small railguns are very weak while large rail guns become reasonably effective in large & expensive ships.

Suggestion: Make the railgun launcher and loader much cheaper (~3k) but keep the accelerator at the current price.

Equalizer Do not Agree, Rail gun should be kind of bigger or huge ships weapon, making them very cheap for swarm make no sense. Except for people who use rail gun on swarm ships.

What is the point of having the ability to build small rail guns if they are dramatically more expensive while also having much worse damage output characteristics than a large cannon?

Equalizer for me is goal to have different strategies, with different ships sizes and ship roles. So I´m fine with extremely powerful rail gun on big ship, but hardly can accept it on 100K fighter.
IMHO is nonsense to make every weapons usable for every size of ships. So if you want to have small ship, than forget strong cheap rail gun for example.

So, obviously, not everything is possible to match together 😃 Every technology has its size limit and cannot be put on everything.

Mc2 Well this is sci-fi where we have unrealistic power supplies and unreasonably strong materials.

Gauss rifles are pretty common in sci-fi and the same technology would enable hand-held rail guns.

Ships overlapping and no chance to untangle - happens quite often in this release.
(Had to self destruct one of them to get at least one moving.)
Especially high velocity ships are prone to this.

Equalizer But we have sci fi materials which are strong agains small railguns, espacially armour, so no small efective rail gun. Hand held railgun is good, but completelly inefective against armoured tanks. Do not want to have efective raigun on not equaly big ship.

Power suplly isok, even now can reactor supply one ship for many years, but where factory takes material for projectiles and rocket parts is realy mystery 😃

About the Railguns, one thing quite bothers me is that the Railguns only use 75% of an ammo factory, which means that 25% of the factory were completely wasted. How about increase the fire rate of the short Railguns so the 25% of the factory can be actually useful, and decrease the fire rate of very long Railguns so one factory can be enough to supply two Railguns. That way the short Railguns can have the buff they desperately needed, and the long Railguns would be less likely to be overpower.

Another thing I noticed is that the Railgun seems to have too low HP. Two solid hits from the Large Cannon, and the entire thing blow up. They should have more HP with all that extra weight.

Mc2 Cool design, haven't ever consider the possibility of rail gun fighter. But after some test with my favorite flagship, picking up a fight with 25 such fighters. (around the same value) I would say that they were far from overpower. A few screen shots show how the rail gun fighter can do.

The above test was done using the hard AI for all ships, which is a little unfair to the fighter side since they had the tendency to bump into each other.

Strenght of swarm is of course in humans hand, no human will wait in front till you kill it. Strengh is of course from flanking and killing your ship from back.
and of course, good designed antiswarm ship should beat swarm, but i see your design is extremly vulnerable to long rail ship, one sho and you nicely chainexpllode. in middle 😃

Mc2 Yeah I can see your point. Though the ship was meant to be an all rounder, not an antiswarm design.

Than how about having more HP for the railgun. Right now when one railgun part go out, the entire thing blow up. Having more HP seems to be reasonable considering they were made of dense and durable material?
