(Cruiser squadrons wouldn't randomly blow up, manifold weapons are experimental by Voidborn standards so have only been fitted to a few test ships)
The manifold launchers that the Voidborn do have are ejected into space, and destroyed... Voidborn research teams begin checking over the design documents for faults.
(OORP sidenote: how are the EL actially causing this?)

(All manifold units have to be quantum linked to all others to avoid critical failures when jumping due to the nature of the jump, add a handy barrel and targeting system, and the EL can just jump in their payloads to the launchers)
