minimurgle 2: Pay a local company to do it. This costs money, and will cost more money with more connections. Assuming he's currently hosting the server himself he'll probably start doing this once the game is on steam and has a larger userbase.
This is actually what I'm doing right now, I'm just paying for a cheap (really cheap... $5/month) cloud server. So cost isn't a huge issue for these servers. It's more about not splitting the player base so much that it's hard to find people to play with. Also, I'm still working on fixing all the bugs in the server, so I don't want to create any more until I have those bugs fixed. Once the bugs are fixed and there are more players in the servers, I'll consider creating some more servers in other geographic locations.
I live in California. I picked New York City for the server location since the plurality of players are American and most Americans live in the East Coast.
