The group fallows Xar into the room, The solders stay to the side of the room, looking at a few of the book's however not touching them.
Dimitri "I'll take some whisky on the rocks will be fine for me. Men if you want anything speak now"
The other solders decline the generous offer, however one of the Taller figures steps up beside the Sargent and takes off his helmet as well, he is visibly a different species then the Human Sargent
Scientist "I'm fine, thank you for the offer. I am Ra sister of Senla, I was sent over to figure out what is going on here, mind telling us more about whatever you know? Only thing we have been able to uncover so far is we are in what can best be described is a ocean, and there are.... living creatures?"
Dimitri "And who is "they" that you spoke of earlier? should we prepare our weapons? and what are the best methods to avoid "them"?"

    Jared
Xar remains silent, possibly pondering to answer which question first, while her hands work out the magic, elegantly pulling out an ice cube and start polishing it into a small ball, perfectly fit into a whisky tumbler before pouring whisky into it. She also decides to make a small cocktail for herself, before returning to the table and gently slides the tumbler over to Dimitri.
"Well...to start it off, everything started back in Parendam Beta, but...we ain't sure what exactly happened, as far as we know, the space just begin to get filled up in these liquid-isk phenomena, which we nicknamed as Deep-Space-Fluid, as in its similar attribution with the deep sea fluid used commonly in early FTL travels."
She takes a small sip of her drink before continuing.
"These DSF isn't exactly a matter, as not even one particle can be spotted even under microscope, but it certainly behaves like non-newtonian fluids."
She leans back with the cup in her hands.
"As for living creatures, there was indeed something which we had met before, they are mostly just big white blobs charging at everything they see, and for some reason, their simple charging can even put a big dent on a fortified station. But recently there are rumors from my crew that there are..."more advanced" individuals, though I don't exactly know what they mean by that, you can ask them when they return if you want."
"As for weapons and ways to avoid them, usually, it would be them who detects us before we do...assuming you are using some sort of displacement sonar., weapon-wise, we had tried beams and conventional kinetic weaponry, which all failed miserably. Energy-based ones usually just disperse to nothingness within a few meters, and shells just lose too much speed while traveling through the DSF, even through magnetic launchers and such. Fortunately, rockets and missiles seem to still work, albeit their speed is way slower than what they are meant for, but one gotta rely on whatever still works in order to survive."

      Dumb
Ra "Interesting, by any chance do you have more information on this early way of FTL travel? and would some of the ships in this system use it?"
Dimitri takes a sip from his drink before speaking
Dimitri "And do you by chance have the Coordinates to Parendam Beta, would be best to know for sure where it is"

        Jared
        "Huh..."
Xar looked bewilderingly at Ra the scientist, but recovered almost immediately with another sip of her cocktail.
"well...during. early FTL, inertia dampeners haven't been developed yet, so in order to counter that inertia and avoid turning all crew into meat patties, a fluid called Deep Sea Fluid would fill up the cabins and the bridge before an FTL jump to help cushion the crew."
"And yes, some of us were using such methods as well, but not on this one at least."
"As for the coordinates...doubt that even works under such conditions, but sure I guess."
"Let's head to the bridge after this to get that, anything else you want to know?"

          Dumb
Dimitri "Earlier you said we can ask further questions about the creatures they have seen when they returned? are they off on a mission somewhere? and if so how do you guys manage to travel through all of this?"

            Jared
"...Although I really want to credit the skills of me and my buddies, it probably is just dumb luck, or humanity's amazing adaptability when it comes to preserving one's lives."
Xar swirl her glass, before gulping down whats left of her cocktail.
"Last one if you still got questions, its probably time for them to return."

For the fleet waiting outside the station, everything remains dormant as ever.

The ship shudders at the sudden cut in speed, the looks of perplexed crew as they look upon the charts and the screens at their stations. The operator of the 'radar' looking at the decrease in response from the pings. His hands moved to other parts of his station, trying each different form of radar sonar, or how ever one may call the number of different trials he attempted with all the different equipment. A sense of confusion as his eyes returned to watching the 'radar' station.
                "Helm status."
the captain spoke out to a response flying back.
"Engines are still at full power, speed cut to quarter helm. Like were being pushed back or our output has been sapped."
"Engineering." The captain spoke before a chime beeped. "Run a report upon the reactor, make sure were not stressing it. And have a team check the engine connection and the other sub systems as well. Make sure were not leaking power."
                The ship continued forward.

"No problem, although we prefer living freely, we don't hold any grudges against official governments, not to mention this is not the time to sort out internal relationships."
Xar takes the two cups and puts them in the sink.
"Although, if possible, do tell us if you meet any other communicable parties, and keep our location in secret, as...well, let's just say I wish to play it safe."
With a thorough cleaning, the two glasses are settled on a drying rack, and Xar simply walks towards the entrance.
"Come on, it's time to see what they get this time."

System checks show the standard result, and it is estimated that the slowing down is caused by an increase in sheer resistance instead of a decrease in output.
Shortly after, a distant blip is caught in the middle of an omnidirectional ping, showing an object of vast quantities, follow-up pings show the object remains in the same vector and doesn't seem to be moving on its own.

Dimitri and Ra both stand up and begin fallowing with the solders lined up behind them.
Ra "Have any of you tried to leave here yet? or has that all been to no success?"

"As you may have noticed already, this ship is immobile right now due to...damage of the engine, and although we still have our warp drive, I reckon someone as smart as you can imagine what would happen if an object is unevenly accelerated in a high resistant environment."
Xar clasp her two hands together as if she is crushing a beer can.
"Of course, there are smaller vessels which may help drag this ship to exit this field, but that would expand our entire fuel storage and leave us a death sentence out there. Compare to those options, i would rather be staying here for the time being."

For the fleet waiting outside, a singular blip is detected, slowly closing towards the station. Its size is close to that of a small shuttle, and it doesn't seem to notice the fleet's presence.

Dimitri "How many are on this ship? surely you'll have to abandon it at some point, rations will run out. and I would assume not flying under any government makes that difficult from time to time, what do you call yourselves anyways? Nomads?"

The ships outside are seen blinking coloured flashing lights at one another, nothing can be determined, they begin to move into a defensive position

Upon approaching a doorway, Xar fish out her ID card and open the door, no doubt the bridge that she mentioned before.
"Wait here just a sec eh? I'll go get that coordinate that you wish to have."
And indeed she returns minutes after entering the doorway, with an old fashion hard disk on one hand and the id on another.
"Here you go, sorry that we don't have many spare storages lying around, so this would have to do for now. Let's go meet up the boys, as well as to answer your assumption."

The shuttle-sized object remains on its course and speed, be it unaware or ignoring the fleet's presence. Upon reaching certain proximity, another opening, different from where the troops went, lit up, and the now-visible shuttle smoothly enter it, before the hanger door closes behind it.

The technician looks at their terminal as the blip bounces back. He grabs the comm device as he rapidly speaks into it.
"Large unknown detected, only thing we got any readings on."
                        "Navigation plot course."
The ship begins to turn towards the anomaly meanwhile an attempt to modify the shields to try and lessen the resistance is going on.

On the outskirts of the system, a shape emerged from the void.....
it resembled a thin angular structure naught but only a few meters long that extended from what one could only describe as a hole through the void and, on its end mounted a what seemed to be a sensor of some sort.

As this object moved slowly towards the anomaly, another object rose rose into view from the hole. This object was comprised of a long tube that extended from the hole, near its end multiple separate curved metal plates were attached at intervals with the tube itself capped by what appeared to be an cuboctahedron with a red optic or light mounted at the center of it.

The shield certainly forms an antagonist relationship with the weird environmental drag, but only does maximum power diverge to shielding is able to remove such effect completely, not to mention the shield's energy expenditure increase quite significantly with more power input, like a scaled leaching effect from the surroundings.
Before actually identifying the object with visual detectors, the captain feels a tingling sensation, like those times when his vessel is getting targeted and his life lies on the slightest twitch of the enemy's finger, in addition, pings suggest that the object's surface area got slightly more uneven than its original state, but not sure if the object is spinning and they simply had the ping on a different surface, or an actual structural change of the object.

With several minutes of waiting and a lot of lever pushing for Xar, the group enters a hanger, slightly smaller than the one that houses their shuttle, and a lot more apparatuses lying around. In the middle lies a moderate-sized civilian shuttle with no apparent weapons, doors opened and people are spotted to be carrying out closed boxes composed of styrofoam.
                              "Hey, how's the catch?"
The catch? What a weird way to greet friendlies, but the receiving side doesn't seem surprised by such, and simply respond casually.
"Eh...lesser than before, but still be enough...by the way, who are these guys?"
"Ah, they are from the Terran Citizens Union, looks like official bodies are finally taking interest in this mess."
