Parendam Beta, the location where once a remarkable space battle unfolds, involving numerous ships from various factions, all fought for what they believe in, be it the actual truth or just some corrupted bureaucracy, and ultimately settled in this gargantuan graveyard of fleets...
Of course, with such large amounts of scraps and tech available for easy extraction, privateers, outlaws, and scavengers alike flooded to the place, setting up assorted trading hubs and outposts, offering a lawless paradise for those who are unbounded by official bodies, while also bringing bustling traffic to the place.
Everything seems quite normal so far, eh? But then, something occurred. Within one night, the entire system "disappeared" from every kind of surveillance, and while ships can still come and go through the system, they fail to locate even one trace of the items which existed, be it the smoking derelict ship carcasses, or the spiky primitive stations, nothing. Nearby official bodies, assuming it's just another interior conflict, then something went off which either erased all of them or force the remaining ones to flee from the place. "The usual", they say, before carelessly throwing the report away.
But aside from the annoying black spot on the detection and the anomalous disappearance, time lag for transports going through that system are becoming more and more obvious, first a couple of seconds, then a couple of minutes, hours, days, and even weeks currently. While the intensity of the effect continues to multiply, the area which "this phenomenon" affects is slowly spreading as well, influencing several trade routes across numerous nearby systems.
Current known discoveries:
- Its origin is located on Parendam Beta
- Detection is hindered
- Traveling speed would be hindered -> Shields help restore traveling speed, but energy consumption of shield increases
- [???] lead to the disappearance of the freelancers' base
The buoys form the perimeter of the anomaly All buoys presumably formed the perimeter had sunk into the anomaly
- The anomaly is ever-expanding
- Content composing the anomaly cannot be extracted beyond the anomaly boundaries
Assumptions by Xar and her crew, currently limited to @Jared only
The anomaly is filled with some sort of liquid, which drastically increases drag and disperse energy at high efficiency
1.1. Said fluid is not exactly a matter, as it doesn't contain any sort of atoms, at least not visible even under microscope.
1.2. Due to the property of the "fluid", energy-based weaponry are highly inefficient.
1.3. Due to the increased drag, weaponry which delivers via one-off kinetic energy burst is not effective, while weaponry with continuous propulsion being the only option that although suffers from dimished efficiency, would still suffice at doing its job.
Spaceborne creatures live inside the anomaly, with aggressive behaviours
2.1 Some spaceborne creatures are edible (and taste like pork for some reason)
(Do note that there is a certain chance that ships would be destroyed, so do advance with precaution.)
(It is encouraged to not do this in one go and go on repeated trials to confirm the site)
