The ability of Reaper to get out any shots at all given their situation came as a surprise to Blizzard; it was assumed ID FCS and missile technology had not reached that level yet. The XV-65s began turning around, flying away from the missiles heading towards them, however their rear mounted secondary radars ensured they managed to maintain a lock on their targets, their own missiles remaining deadly consequently.
Blizzard 5 broke hard to evade, being much closer to the munitions launched at it. While motherlodes of chaff spewed from the aircraft, attentive observers would note the maneuvers employed would induce far too many G's for any pilot, Vaiaelon or not. Just as the missiles targeting it reached their destination, the radar signature split in three, which would normally be a good thing... were it not for the fact that all three immediately swung around to continue homing in on Reaper, now less than two dozen km away.
Foxtrot's RWR lit up once more, and this time stayed up. Wavelength, antenna speed, and MO were all unmistakable: an XV-67/R Deployable Loyal Wingman. A small stealth drone launched from a parent fighter, but still packed with enough firepower to bring down larger prey, and currently closing fast on Foxtrot with an active radar lock from very close range.
