really cool cannon - just a suggestion, for this cannon and for the rest of the "capital ship" guns should have longer range and have higher shell velocity because after all, they are very large guns and are for capital ships. Plus it does literally no damage to shields unless you put them in mass, and vs ships that have mass shielding its very unlikely to win unless you have shield breaking weaponry... But if you are aiming to have the players have to add another weapons system to make the quad cannon viable that would make sense
You should make a really large one barrel cannon that isn't on a turret, that just does massive amounts of damage, like it fires an antimatter shell and kills half a ship lol
SamJam The quad cannon already have 400 range, compared to the big cannon 150. making it even longer would make it unbalanced to vanilla. and a velocity of 50, compared to 30 of the big cannon. I already had all that into account~
Further more, it does 3200 damage on shields, ( vs 2400 of big cannon )
its their low rate of fire that allows the shield to recharge. otherwise, 4 shells hitting the same shield puts it down.
For the latter suggestion, there is ABH's mod for that, and people complains about "Too over powered"
x3owns It's the rate of fire that is slow, having an interval of 5.5 seconds right now.
Shields can reload faster than they can shoot. unless you have many and make them focus fire.
What I could do perhaps is increase the damage of their operationalHit from 2000 to 2500, as it is in AoE right now, wanted to keep it rather low because of the AoE nature. with a radius of 3 tiles.

Hmm. I feel they are a bit underpowered. Add more explosion radius or more penetration.

Take the fire rate down and make the gun shoot constantly. So instead of it shooting 4 times at a time make it shoot non stop.
Nice mod, but i feel like the gun is underpowered, you should add more explosive power to it.
I've found that just pure DPS its 30% more efficient to just put 4 standard cannons than this, but we all know big cannons arent very good and so its still better than the big cannon
note: in my comparison i tested sole-y based on width. so i tested 1 capital cannon vs 3 big cannon vs 4 standard cannons
this cannon is much larger and harder to protect, is much more expensive than just 3 big cannons or 4 standard cannons and is still not powerful enough. I do understand that is severely outranges every other gun, but I feel that maybe if range was decreased, this could be more balanced.
Also, what is the reason you want 4 barrels? FASTER FIRERATE!!! This thing has a really slow firerate and to make up for it you have to make it deal high damage and high explosion radius which you were tinkering with a lot before. If you increased firerate, you could still be able tolower damage even more without it becoming underpowered. I do understand that you have like a dozen people that want a more powerful gun, but because this gun is so big and difficult to use, it should have some upsides to using it and right now it does not.
I also know that you don't want to just make another overpowered cannon mod like every other one out there, but this is almost sad how weak it is, and I think you can bypass a few balancing problems that you were hving by increasing firerate.

Jakeblake I was heavily thinking that yes, from the low fire rate the gun is not a DPS cannon. but rather its a heavy hitting Alpha strike. the gun, is based from the EVE online 3500mm quad canon. and I think in the game the thing has a reload of 20 seconds, but does the highest alpha damage of any other guns in the MMORPG. SO I will increase the damage done on shield and operational and see how it feels.
rada660 Ok I understand that you want to keep a slow firerate, but you said you want a really powerful Alpha strike? If so, you should increase load time even more and make it do massive damage, with the user knowing that the downside is that it takes forever to reload. If you do plan to do this it would probably make sense to make each shot take 2 ammo to fill a single barrel, cause right now you don't even quite need 2 ammo factories to keep up with it and that just feels... wrong. These are supposed to be massive bullets with lots of explosive powder! Meanwhile, I might play around with balancing it but instead of a slower rate of fire, i'll play with a faster one
