TheRainmaker
As the ship approached the orb the orb this time actually reacted, the swirling inside became more intense, space in a small radius around teh seemed to almost flicker, then, when the ship finally touched the orb, or rather, when the borutian inside came in contact with it, everything went too quick for anyone to observe with bare eyes.
On the observation equipment it was later seen that the orb had unfolded like a rose, revealing tentacles of the red mist, they twitched for a brief moment before impaling the ship, the same moment, the mind of the borutian aboard shattered like a hollow orb of glass and a psionic transmission came from the ship towards anyone nearby...
"You have fooled us, mortals, but by contract you have paid your price. Heed our words: We shall remember this, should we ever cross paths again. Now receive the first part of the Prophecy..."
The voice of the beast which had been talking to them until now made place for something different, primordal, older than time, greater than space, they could not see it, or confirm it, but they could feel it. The words it uttered were completely alien to any of them and yet they all understood, almost instictively, as if this thing was talking in conceptual truths, rather than words...
As Light and Darkness fall,
Chaos will rise.
Judgement will be passed upon the world by the abandoned and fallen,
rising from the ashes of forgotten empires.
Then, the orb was gone, the Borutian inside the ship was alive, but his mind remained in pieces, like some cruel reminder of what had happened...
...and there was silence, no orb, no tear, no tendril, no whisper.
The surrounding Borutians could feel that whatever had to happen, was over.
For now.
