As he closed the book and saw around he found...nothing.
The corridor was still the same along it´s entire visable length, no ominous monstrosity had entered his sight, no answer came in response to the question, even though it was more directed at himself, but the sound had been undeniably there...
As he was looking around the screeching suddenly repeated, it was louder...
The screeching was hurting his auditory organs and some of the lights flickered until the sound stopped again...
Whatever this thing was, it sounds as if it was coming closer...*

There was no notable feedback from the sensor ping apart of what he already knew it seemed to stretch out beyond the sensor pings range going straight in a line in both directions, doors lining it along the entire detecable range, though according to the sensors the corridor was still empty...
There was also no answer either, the air in the corridor remaining silent, his hand still gripping the doorknob...
As he was about to go back to what he was doing beforehand, the screeching repeated, louder, more importantly: closer...
The lights flickered for a few moments as the screeching faded into the metallic sound then there was silence again, the lights back to normal...
Jenwuf
As it played back the sound it was still not discernable from which direction the screeching had come, from what it could tell the soundwaves arrived at it´s position from both direction at the exact same time, with an almost scary precision...
Even less could be said about the distance the origin was away, whilst the corridor seemed acustically rather normal at first, from analyzing the playback Echo could ascertain that the walls seemed to throw back the sound just about perfectly, giving the origin a position which could be anywhere beyond the echolocation range...
The soundfile play ano...
This wasn´t a soundfile, the screeching was louder, more violent, more worringly, from what Echo could tell it sounded closer, it´s sense of heat also indicated some of the heatsources of the place were... 'flickering' for a lack of better words, for as long as the metallic part of the screech lasted...
Yet there still wasn´t anything new on the echolocation map...

The door closed behind him without any obvious issues, so he started his journey down the corridor...
Like the other one it was decently lighted up, but without the doors passing by it was diffcult to tell what distance he had traveled...
Soon, the door he had entered through faded into the blackness in the distance, there was no second scream, no abomination suddenly sprinting at him from teh darkness, but the only indicator he was still moving were the lights, the patterns on the wood and the consant sound of his own steps, moving one foot infront of the other...
He felt weird, started losing the concept of time...
'What is this place? Where does it go?'
His head started moving lower, he had to shake it to get rid of his drowsiness, as he looked up he saw another, new, door infront of him, it had glass windows though he couldn´t see anything through them apart of light that was apparently shining on the other side...
Ten
As he started looking around he saw nothing new, no indicator towards what could have made that sound, the corridor lied still and empty...
He was about to relax again as the screeching repeated, the screaming hurting in his ears, the lights of the corridor flickering as it faded into the metallic sound, until it stopped once more...
The omnipresent silence filled the corridor again...
It had been louder.
Closer.
Whatever this thing was, probably knew where he was...

The door opened without much sound, despite however old this place may be, the doors were apparently well maintained...
What awaited him was a long staircase leading upwards in a straight line, the stairs themselves had just about the right size for him, though apart of that there was not much noteworthy...
The staircase was in the same style as the corridor and lighted up decently, though like in the corridor the end of it faded into atmospheric darkness regardless due to it´s excessive length...
As Kar'Guraad was thinking about wetehr to take this or another door, the screeching repeated, organic, then again metallic, as the second element came in the lights in corridor flickered until the sound stopped again...
This was worrying, despite the sound dampening the screeching was almost as loud as before, indicating it had become considerably louder, which could mean many things things, yet one thing was almost certain...
Whatever it was, it came closer...

Nathan climbed and climbed and...
he started to appreciate that he had a decent endurance from all the farming work throughout the years, yet even with that premise it started to get exceedingly more diffcult to hold onto the rope, as he looked upwards he saw that the entrance had long faded out of sight...
How long had he even been climbing for?
His arms started getting weaker, as he looked down he saw nothing but walls, more rope and a seemingly bottomless pit in the distance...
But there was no screeching anymore at least, no beast the jumped down the hole from above to take him down into the darkness...
He kept on descending and lost his perception of time, slowly clim...
Finally after a felt eternity of going down the rope his hand slipped, he tried to hold on with the other one but didn´t get a hold onto the rope, falling into the darkness below...
Was this the end?
He closed his eyes.
Suddenly there was a crashing sound of a male human adult body crashing onto a wooden table from roughly about a metre height...
His own body.
It didn´t hurt as much as he expected and from what he could tell he didn´t break anything, neither his bones nor the table...
He opened his eyes again and the first thing he saw was large, hairy, cat like face, with two long downwards facing fangs coming from the upper jaw...
He recoiled from the beast, only now he saw it was wearing clothes, not making it´s inital look much less terrifying though...

... as he tried to find a connection, he found out that the psionic energies of this place were almost terrifyingly stale, this place was old beyong recognition...
Yet, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn´t connect to anything, it was as if the corridor was a psionic cage, preventing any communication in or out equally...
Whilst he was still concentrating he was interrupted another time, by a second screeching, it was even louder than the first one, there was a low but distinct pain all over his skin when the screeching erupted, when it faded into the metallic part the lights even flickered along the corridor until the sound stopped...

As he tried to count the pages of the book he found out that it was exceedingly difficult, for some reason, he seemed to lose track somewhere along the way, literally every time...
Yet there was now anotehr page after the note on the formerly last one, indicating that the book was indeed expanding...
Once he arrived at the starting point he found an inscription on the ground stating 'Starting point: Nate/'Prophet' of the evolved' ...so still the same as before...
His screaming yielded no result, giving no answer apart of his own echo, the corridor remained silent...
So he began opening doors, the first one had simply hole in the ground behind it, seemingly bottomless, the next one was a ladder reaching into heights that he could not discern from his point in the corridor...
The third one was a ramp which seemed to go in a slight angle and spiral downwards...
As he was about to open the fourth door, he was stopped mid movement by another bloodcurdling screeching int the same pattern as before, yet it was louder than before, it sounded...closer, the light even started flickering this time when the screeching faded into the metallic part, then there was silence again, the light back to normal...

As Lila was going after her business behind the the bar counter, she suddenly heard a crashing sound, as she looked up there was a hatch in the ceiling slowly closing again, more importantly though, along with the crashing sound a human man had apparently crashed into the table Kirov was currently sitting at, he was wearing a plaid button shirt, boots, jeans ...and a straw hat which for some reason he apparently didn´t lose whilst falling.
Kirov stared at him as the man had literally just crashed onto the table right infront of him, a clattering was heard and what looked like a...pitchfork?
...crashed into the ground besides the table, then the hatch in the ceiling nobody knew about before closed again...
At least the table was still intact. Though the impression on Kirovs face was difficult to read...
The only one apparently unimpressed with what just happened was the adventurer Gal'qud Rách who sat on a bench on the oppiste side of the bar room, simply shaking his head and then mumbling something akin to: "Always with those newcomers and their entrances, for Valq´s sake, g´dammit..."
