"Travel sef nae."
The three begin to walk up the hill, and as soon as they are out of earshot, She'la bursts out laughing.
"Well done Nurian, but i'm afraid to say your accent is terrible, it sounds like you are from a bad play. Plus I don't quite appreciate the inference that I am a cave dwelling savage..."
"I think he did quite well, I couldn't understand a word that guard said."
"Wasn't your original purpose to be an envoy? How the hell could you do that if you can't understand basic dialects?"
"Well I had to scrub a lot of excess data to make room for Solaric battle tactics..."
"What? Blak, you don't still scrub things do you?"
"Sometimes, why?"
"I don't really know how to respond to that."
There are several shops along the main road, and the three soon notice a shop with green signboard over the door, on it in peeling gold leaf is written "Hardwicks", the window is grubby and rain beaded, and there are all manner of items visible, from strings of root vegetables to small animal traps.

The rain beats unrepentantly down upon the figures, it is daylight now, if this dreary greyness can be called daylight, it will be a long trek to the village.
The source of the artificial light is plain nearby however, on the top of a hill, under the shade of a small fruit grove, there sits an elegant ship, painted in purple and white, and looking like some sort of bird sheltering from the rain under the trees.

Adam cracks the reins.
"Caen thun, we's gat time tae mek up."
The coach rattles off again, and Adam clenches his Cigar between his teeth, pulling his oilskins tighter round himself.
"Taes cauld tae be suer."
In the rear of the coach, the small girl is sitting staring at the ambassador, one hand holding her mother's, she creases up her face in thought.
"Are you a wizard?"
Jem sniffs, and looks around the coach.

"Of course of course, do not fear, I will tell you all."
He walks over to a side table that the two had not noticed before, that holds a silver decanter and a single chalice of some description, and pours what looks to be wine into it, walking back to his chair, and sitting down again, leaning back with the chalice in his left hand.
"Well, It is like this. This world has always been slightly odd, The ancestors of we that live here now did not come into being on this world, rather journeyed here from another, and once they had settled here, they could not leave, this is stated in our history books, though it is not explained why, however, there are clues, a piece of information here, a scrap there, and you can put them together and see the true meaning. This was deemed by the first colonists as a planet of anomalies, things would happen with seemingly no reason, and one of these happenings was the disappearance of their vessel, along with their ties to their true home. They could not leave, and from then everything simply got stranger. They started to experience strange events, people thought long dead appearing to them, close friends going mad, there were even a few cases of people simply bursting into flames on the spot with no prior warning, and they thought that surely they were destined to suffere a cruel and strange death. However just as quickly as these supernatural events happened, they stopped again, and seemingly that was that, it was just a nightmare to be forgotten about, our society grew from there, and we prospered, but mere weeks ago, as you know, there was a great event, and things have started happening again. Last week a promising young clairvoyant spontaneously combusted, and there have been reports of madness, in people and animals, and of the giant sea creatures by the coast wrecking shipping and destroying the cities of the Mer, this eternal thunderstorm, and most frighteningly, unusual people walk abroad, demons who look like animals."
He winks at the two and takes a sip of his chalice, a mischievous smile on his face.
"However I think that there is another explanation for that last one don't you?"
