yes,
the range of the internal Shield Emitter is limited to 12 tiles grid distance (GridBuffProvider).
- any armor tile beyond the range will not activate.
- any armor tile within the range will activate, if you switch the Generator into external mode. The Pictures in the original post show the info box with the controls and mode switches
- the armor tiles do not need any wiring to function correctly since the buffing system is "wireless". the structure tiles in the pictures above are of no importance.
- the buff that feeds the armor tiles with energy works only on the same ship. it will not work on ally ships in close proximity and will stop working if the parts are separated while a ship breakes apart
currently, the range of one Generator cannot be extended
- but using multiple Generators with overlapping ranges will allow stacking of the buff (faster Regeneration of Energy in the armor tiles.)
- hovering the mouse cursor over the Generator or the armor parts in blueprint mode will show a green rectangle overlay if the part is within buffing range.
the Shield arc itself is not visible. it will only show up when:
- hit by something
- or is turned on or off
- or switches activation state (goes online while charging / collapses when Energy storage is drained)
I hope you may find the error in your test ship's design and correct it. If none of the possible errors as described above match your situation, please give me a more precise description of the circumstances that were present during your testing.

that doesnt of course exclude the possibility that the code still contains some bugs that havent been discovered jet, not accounting for bugs that occure during use with other mods. (assuming you tested in a vanilla environment)
