Walt To buy a ship during the battle, just click on its button and it'll warp in inside your spawn area.
This is great! Much simpler than the weird warping ships in anywhere system I suggested.
Walt Note that the money amount listed for each official ruleset is the maximum fleet value, not your starting money (which is currently 1/4 the maximum fleet value). Is that confusing?
Walt Maybe an immediate 10 seconds worth of money upon capturing?
Nordwolf I would prefer it to be a fight for the points instead of a race for the points.
I think one issue might be that starting credits are very low relative to income. For my original proposal I was envisioning less of a RTS-style army building mode, and more of an elimination match with reinforcements. Has anybody tried games with a higher starting credit count - I would be curious how those played out. (say $750k starting credits, $250k income per minute?) IIRC istrolid also has a relatively large initial money bank.
In general, more starting credits puts more weight on the initial fight, while more income puts more weight on capping points.
This might also help with the issue of small ships feeling too strong at capping, because if income is lower relative to standing fleet size it's not such a big deal if a tiny fighter blocks income for a little while.
Nordwolf Need some maps with points further from each other, current distance feels really small but I see how it will be interesting in some engagements over the larger maps.
With the current distance, large railguns can actually shoot from one point onto another. I don't have a problem with this (if anything it makes them feel like cool siege weapons, plus you can defend your points from fighters), but thought it was worth mentioning.
If cap speed needs to be based on something (which I'm not convinced of!), I think cost makes the most sense. It seems intuitive that strong ships should cap the fastest, and ship strength is balanced around ship cost (not ship crew - e.g. crew on a railgun barge vs equal-strength HE missile barge).
Nordwolf Also tractor beams seem actually useful in this gamemode and not being able to tell if it's in push or pull mode is quite frustrating. Maybe different colours? I know it has been suggested before but I feel like it's really important here, let's say blue for pull and yellow for push? Pink is nice too as some have suggested.
Maybe they could have "bands of light" moving in the direction of force?
.
And some random thoughts:
The "capture in progress" visual looks a little odd to me, just because there are so many circles alredy (capture point, spawn points, ship vision, ship bounding circles).
It also really messes with me that the capture point rings are the same size regardless of zoom (so I can't use them for scale), but that's probably just something I'll need to get used to.
The boost thruster stats tooltip is incorrect - it says 0.08 drain per second instead of 0.8.
