@Alpha got a defensive Flak Module to share? I was under the impression Flaks had reduced defensive RoF and could continously fire defensively on 1 ammunition factory, but guy told me something different.

I still have to design a new module. In the previous update one factory would be enough, but it changed. Now one can keep it going for a while, just not permanently.

newageofpower here is a newly tested battery that kind of shares a factory in the middle, though i cant guarantee it will be perma, its pretty close, i think Alpha what do you think

Small cannons can be done 3:1, with some dips in firepower (which doesn't really matter if your opponent gets knocked out by the initial attack.).

newageofpower I don't know yet, with a little bit of testing I'll probably figure it out. 2 factories for 1 flak should certainly work, but I still need to see if that isn't too much.

Alpha just tested my flak and cannon module to try answer this and to perma flak you need probably two, im almost certain not three but i could be wrong
newageofpower here are the modules i used the flak wont stay going forever as its one on one but you could use it to do whatever, if you want perfection wait for alpha.

Large cannons are still 1:1 and small cannons are still 2:1 (cannons:factories), though, right?

Crest12 you only need one missile factory per two launchers heres a module i have for reference, you can use it but personally i prefer to make my own modules, also i believe you only need one ammo factory per two large cannons

The ammo factories only put out 2 ammo per second, wheras the large cannons go through ammo almost twice as fast, so 1 ammo factory is not enough to keep 2 large cannons firing constantly.

Made a "Super" flak variant of my light cannon wall, which replaced 4 batteries of light cannons with flak guns. Not sure if this amount of firepower reduction is "worth it", so I figured I'd ask for alternate opinions.

EDIT: My own testing has given me results that conclude that the design above is a bit too weak, at least against the previous pure cannon (no flak) designs that I have already made. Still, I can't help but like having the flak for extra defense. Maybe I'll settle with only having 2 flak batteries (4 guns in total) instead of the 4 batteries.

Going to wait for push beams to come out next update before updating my converger supercapitals. While we wait, back to smol ships.

I'm up to my 8th revision of this design. Supposed to be a fast flanker, had some surprising success using it as a clinger. Suggestions for improvements?

newageofpower your ship has no front and very little side defenses, so I would recommend at least PD. From the most recent update, flak is much more effective than PD, so I would say to use that if possible.

CrazyBirdie It's way more expensive tho, needs at least one additional ammo factory and has a rather limited fireing angle, making it better suited for normal builds rather than diagonal (triangel) ones.

I'd suggest placing (a battery storage, some additional crew and) pd in that armor for missile defense.
Also want to point out I usually run two large thruster modules on the same reactor, meaning you should be able to do the same with smaller thrusters. Your weapon (+boost thruster) modules should be able to run on a single reactor too, unless you need these boost thrusters to be in boost mode permanently.
Using the design as clinger should be fine, but I'd expect/prefer a flanker to have more firepower than 4 normal and 2 large cannons. That's still depending on the price cap tho...
