kieffer5101 That's some nice ship you've got there! I don't really get the reason for the laser(/EB ) module design tho: 3 battery storages and 2 reactors should be way over the top for that armament...

Be careful of using shields in the same module with missile launchers.

If the missile launchers are firing constantly they will cause the shields to never be provided with power, unless the module has a ridiculous amount of crew, resulting in them collapsing without ever being hit.

(Crew are stupid and give lower priority to powering the shields than carrying missile parts.)

Equalizer It's actually the same with ammo factories. I regulary see around 7 people waiting on the same empty ammo factory and completey ignoring everything else, including (empty) shields...

CursedPh4nt0m Missiles launchers have the highest discrepancy between how many crew they need to operate a full output (6-8) and how many they preoccupy (12-14). The preoccupied crew will not power shields.

Cannons also have a discrepancy but it it isn't nearly as bad so having shields in a cannon module doesn't waste nearly as many crew.

Alpha so after some blood, sweat and tears of trying to make my cap ship effective... i gave up, the amount of cannons on your ship is too powerful.
so i decided to take the design idea of your ship and make a capitol and create a railgun ship that is 18 mil, with a ton of cannons and emp missiles to make someone cry and he missiles that as Equalizer equalizer said die because the shield priority is too low. this a ton of modules and as lightweight as i could get with it still looking nice but no paintjob yet, ill probably slap on my normal colours

Perhaps I made the challenge too hard to begin with. In any case, I'll take a look at your new ship tomorrow and see where we can improve it somewhat.

That's the nice thing about this game, there is always something you can improve upon. No matter if you're a vet or a new player, there is always someone who knows this useful thing you didn't know.

Alpha yes but the design is impossible to use to combat your ship, though railguns have been promising i just need to make a small version.

chief_chaman478 Guess you could try beating my I/C-Wall instead then. You're already pretty close tho, so I'd limit you to not deploy the fighters.
(And don't call beating Alphas broadsider impossible. You'd only have to replace the weapons on the sides with a metric crapton of missile launchers and watch the enemy getting torn apart.)

Your 'super sniper' could use some improvement too btw. It just lost to my 11 million credits 'Oblivion':

Any well designed ship using a respectable amount of long range weapons should be able to finish it off without too much trouble. Those PD used to be better when I first made it. So it got kinda nerfed.

Railguns are quite effective for this, sniping the modules.

Missiles are just... overwhelming.

Alpha Railguns got nerved in the 0.14.7 update. 🙁 The Oblivions former 800% damage railgun merely hits the 300% now.
(I remember beating your Dauntless with some rather cheap ship some time ago, I know it's not that hard to beat. Even my latest wall design can kite it:

Lukz2cool Why not give the middle cannon direct access to the middle factory? Also, I think one factory for two EMP launchers is not enough, but it's not that bad.

Lukz2cool Didn't load it ingame yet, but this looks great so far! You could reduce the armor in the middle(s) tho, noone (including the AI) would bother getting through half as much... Should also add another EMP-missile factory (or storage if you lack the room) on each ship and turn the rear engines to face inwards, granting more mobility while keeping the thrust. I'm also not too happy about the flak, as most missile ships would probably focus the tip rather than a rear section, making it rather hard for the flak to hit any missiles.

As one who likes missiles, I would target the large cannons near the armor wedge; a place where the flak cannot easily cover. Perhaps add some PD to help.
