8nathan I never built a 'spinny one', but I remember most of them having the tuning thrusters further out. You also comitted 'too few ammo fatories', seemingly too much crew on some modules, no pd and too many sensors.
The first one seems better (besides the dual reactors and the little thing kieffer already mentioned). I didn't load the ships ingame tho.
Edit: I just had your Crabbit fight my prototype I/C-Wall (900.000 credits) and watched your ships reactors explode an entire half and later the second CR. Those reactors should get armored. How 'bout you get revenge on my ship as your first lesson?
(And don't dare missile-spamming it into oblivion, the version that made it into GiF has flak defense.)
About the 'Fortress Battlestation': Remove or replace the FTL-drives, reduce the number of sensors (a single sensor would be enough, their effects don't stack), add many ammo factories (not too many tho, the ratio is around one/one for large cannons, a spinner might work on 2 cannons per factory).
