Dalas120 Delayed explosions in general are very necessary when parts are destroyed. It's better for performance, it communicates much more clearly what is happening, and it just feels a lot better.
However, the nuke storage/launcher/factory has a delay in addition to the delay of the expanding explosion, which I think is unnecessary. As long as the starting radius of the nuke explosion is reduced enough that it won't instantly kill surrounding parts, then the expanding explosion I think is sufficient and it doesn't need any initial delay.
Making nuke shockwaves expand faster is something I've experimented with, and I think it feels very bad for it to be significantly faster than it already is at 1x speed.
