Civil War in the XA Empire [finish]

Unfortunately, any attempted tests on the weapon fail dismally, entire teams of researchers being devoured and processed into more goo. The weapon continues eating into the planet until it reaches the core. Then the planet shatters in rubble and flame. And for some of the troopers leaving the planet, they have microscopic flecks of black on their gear.

Back on the Devil's Reach, the prisoner is subjected to brain trawling. Afterward, he has no mind left to speak of, but the pirates have the codes they wanted. And using those, extrapolating the codes to access the rest of the XA Empire's financial network is child's play.
Please don't try and counter this just yet, as they haven't taken any action.

...after a few days of silence, it started to become apparent that, not everything went as planned, while the convoys towards Xanara had apparently been left alone for the time being the others have not been this lucky...
A few days after the first sightings one of the Mercenary groups sent out a distress signal, when a mid-sized ship started approaching them out of nowhere, when they hailed it didn´t answer and it´s weapons and shields were activated...

Before the mercenaries were in weapon range the ship already opened fire, while most of the missiles that were fired by the unknown ship were shot donw by the point defense systems of the mercenaries, those missiles which connected interfered with the ships systems by released a pulse of overcharged particles, when the ship reached mid-range it fired a high-powered beam-like weapon from it´s front, while the mercenaries opened fire...

The bullets of the mercenaries uselessly splattered against the ships shields, while it took them apart one by one the battle didn´t last long the last few pictures showed the assault on the last Poorstartia mercenary ship which escorted the civilian transporter, before another volley of emp rounds knocked out the ships systems for good...

...when the reinforcements arrived it was already too late, with all the rebellions and escorts that were to do reaction times of battlegroups were heavily affected, what they found when they investigated the remnants was likely even more unsettling than the attack itself, while the mercenary ships had been completely destroyed in the attack, the civilians ships seemed to be still intact apart of a few burned circuits, though...they were completely empty, the crew and the passangers were all gone...
Incidents like these happened several times in the last few days, while it helped very little with reducing the number of rebels due to the statistically low number od victims, it fueled the anger of the civilian populace on the gouvernment as they hadn´t been doing anything...

...in the meanwhile what looked to be some sort of civilian drones occasionally showed up near the convoys that were protected by the heavy Future Corporation drones, they always seemed to keep their distance and tag along the convoys until they disappeared in hyperspace again at some later point...

Drakador_Chaos Rebels have neither the means nor the power to counter these pirates, do not do anything, even if the ships begin to go through less traveled routes.
The risk-free Corporation decides to send their smaller drones to explode these civilian vessels, and their freighter now use vortex vessels outside the Empire's borders, in order to land directly into the outskirts of Xanara, an area still protected by the XA Empire. The government does not care.

Jesus3747 While it seems that crowds are on the planet, some ships are trying the FTL, with results that have not been described. Only one, who stumbled upon an imperial code at random, manages to get away with it.
The rebels then unite and point a huge cannon on you.
You receive a transmission from a base of the Corporation Avenir:
Welcome to this beautiful planet, we are delighted that you are here. The Empire is no longer able to protect us. Do you need help?

A great flash of light floods a small system on the outskirts of the XA Empire, which ends quickly, revealing an Imperial fleet.

The fleet takes a position, just above a populated planet in that distant system. The cruisers activated their interdictors, preventing anyone from leaving the system or entering, unless they manage to obtain certain imperial codes, which would allow them to use their FTL drive, by making the empire believe that they are allied ships.

As the ships blockade the planet, a transmission is initiated ...

Suddenly, a transmission goes out across the XA Empire. No video can be seen, just a slightly distorted audio.
"We are the crew of the privateer ship The Devil's Reach. We recently obtained the access codes for your entire financial network. This war is to be concluded within two weeks. The victors will be rewarded beyond their wildest dreams and offered the chance to join something greater than themselves. Failure to comply with our demands will result in the complete collapse of your economic system."

...it seems the attack on the drones had been reported to local media causing yet another uproar in the civilian sector, especially as the drones had been shot down without any warning...
Yet apart of that the pirates activities had apparently seized...for now.
That is...until a few days later several civilian distress signals lighted up along the borders, seemingly at random...

As several ships of all kinds try to use their FTL drives, they are pulled, denying the jump, and leaving them adrift. But apparently one manages to escape...

Imperial officer: Sir, apparently a freighter managed to escape, this by sending random codes, giving just the right one.

Captain Terror: The code system is too weak, I think we should leave the old binary system and use a more suitable one...

Imperial Officer: Sir, we are receiving a signal, I will put it on the screen.

Captain Terror: That's a big canon, thats for sure ... well, Death or Victory! OPEN FIRE!

The imperial ships begin to open fire, but not before raising their shields at maximum power; shooting at everything without discrimination, whether they were civil targets or rebels. The batteries of Tachiones fired powerful bursts of projectiles traveling at the speed of light, causing havoc, this on impact with such power.

While the cruisers attacked with their Tachyon cannons, the Destroyers fired a shower of missiles, which roared upon entering the atmosphere.

Drakador_Chaos Censorship does its work on the media, the signal is blocked by authorities and rebels to prevent panic. A hunter of the Empire will see where the signals come from.

...as the hunter approached one of the signals a few lightseconds away from the target destination he was suddenly ripped out of ftl by an interdiction field, the source of it seemed to be a singular mid-sized ship, though the interferences didn´t allow any accurate scans, which made identifying the unknown attacker all the more difficult...
What was likely even worse was that the ship apparently started up it´s engines and headed towards the hunters vessel with an alarming speed...

Jesus3747 While on the ground we can hear the thud of explosions and rebels or civilians making leaps of 50 meters, the barrel, protected by a shield, begins to fire. Ships enter the edge of the system, they seem to have cracked the code, and approach the planet.
Civilians and rebels bury themselves under the ground.
