Wouldn't it be awesome if Cosmoteer's .txt data files had syntax highlighting that looked like this?
Well, if you use the Sublime Text text editor, now it can! I've made a little syntax highlighting plugin and color scheme for Sublime Text that'll make it so!
In addition to downloading and installing Sublime Text, you'll want to download these two additional files that I made:
cosmoteer.sublime-syntax - This file tells Sublime Text how to parse Cosmoteer's data files so that it can identify things like strings, numbers, references, parameter names, groups, and lists.
cosmoteer.sublime-color-scheme - This file stores the actual colors to apply to the strings, numbers, references, and other things identified by the previous file. Technically this file is optional and you can use any Sublime Text color scheme you want, but none of the default color schemes will color Cosmoteer's references properly, so if you want that you'll need to use this file. And if you don't like the particular colors I've chosen they're easy to change, just open up this file and change the colors to whatever you want. Here's a guide about customizing color schemes in Sublime Text.
Once you've downloaded these files, copy them into your [username]\AppData\Roaming\Sublime Text 3\Packages\User
folder and Sublime Text should automatically recognize them.
To tell Sublime Text to actually use the Cosmoteer syntax for a particular .txt file, click the View
menu, then Syntax
, then select Cosmoteer
. (You can also tell Sublime Text to use the syntax for all .txt files if you want.) To tell Sublime Text to use the Cosmoteer color scheme, click the Preferences
menu, then Color Scheme...
, then search for cosmoteer
and hit enter.
