The fleet of Explorer-Class ships draw closer to the planet. Not only are they in serious disrepair, but any observers that chose to remain in the area notice that they also don't seem to have their festive color scheme.
In the middle of the fleet is the Coreship, just as malfunctioning and glitchy as the surrounding ships. The Core-AI, if it could still be called that, seems oddly fixated on the planet.
"Such an in-in-in-interesting planet," she stutters, "with such a-a-a traumatic fate for suc-such an interesting character... Her-her-her pain shall be-- shall be a glorious add-addition to my coLLECTION!! AND THE- AND THE- AND THE PLAAAaaanet, a modest source of sus-sus-sustenance..."
An energy spike from the Coreship, and then bits and pieces of the planet begin to malform, eventually dissipating into a particulate mass headed towards the fleet...
