Iridestin Collective *(Formerly known as: Iridestin Survivors)
Known history:
"Early" history: (Re-awakening until departure from the Solaric cradle)
-About one week ago, a large asteroid measuring about 150 by 90 km entered a New Solaric Empire backwater mining system located at the borders of the empire.
While it had initally nothing of note and would´ve passed the system without incidents at some point it suddenly changed course, accompanied by a burst of electromagnetic energy.
As the Asteroid was now heading towards one of the Empires new mining worlds, a sys-def unit engaged the asteroid and changed it´s course again towards a point outside fo the system, as the asteroid was severaö minutes away, another electromagnetical burst came from it, this time not enough to change it´s course, however, enough to peak the sys-def commanders interest, as shrotly after that a team was dispatched, to find the source of the energy burst.
After several scans and usage of a nanoprobe, they had found out the asteroid was in fact layered, and had vast amounts of resources under it´s "crust" however, what was even more odd, it seemed to have a liquid core which lead the sys-def commander to belive the asteroid was living a started getting distance as the asteroid was heading out of the system anyways.
Shortly after that a tall figure appeared on the surface of the asteroid, after the inital cummunication issues had been overcome, the sys-def commander and his crew found out that the asteroid was in fact a chunk of a planet that had been destroyed and now served a race as a sort of ark, coincidally, the first resourcerich planet in their path after several million years of travel had been the mining world, unknown it was already in someones possession the speaker of the race had redirected the asteroid at the mining world to claim it for his race.
After some political quarrels the individual and it´s race had eventually acquired permission to claim the planet after all mining personell and equipment had been evacuated...
-Approximately one week later the preparation work was finished, as more of the individuals race had apparently awoken, or at least they were told so, they changed course personally once more and started heading towards the planet, at the current rate the impct would be three days later...
-Another similar asteroid had been sighted and investigated a while ago in UFA-territory, but it´s current fate is unknown...
-After negotians with the Solarics which the planet belonged to, the Iridestin were allowed to make the mining world their own, after all personnel and mining equipment had been evacuated, the Asteroid crashed into the world, covering the planet in a massive cloud of dus.
-Several days later, the cloud seemed to have condensed massive rocks reaching from metres to kilometres floating in a low orbit above the former surface.
-Another few days later, Solaric ambassadors have been invited to the planet via a transmission which seemed to mimic their own comms, once they arrived they saw how drastically the planet changed in just a few days, after more negotiations the Iridestin have been ermitted to use civilian archives and facilities from the Solaric Empire.
-Several days later, by this point approximately one standard month after their arrival, several large rocks have been seen leaving the Orbit of the planet, apparently stacked with experimental shipparts, shortly after that the asteroids began firing at each other in a sort of fieldtest and eventually attempted an ftl jump, which failed, no casualties have arisen from these incidents.
-Several weeks after the tests of the first Iridestin 'spacecrafts' (if you want to call them that) the Ever Legion invaded Solaric space, for reasons which are unknown to this day, luckily at the same time a Solaric patrol group was within the Iridestin system which managed to distract the troops of the Legion whilst the Iridestin prepared for their departure. After collecting the refugees which came fromt he Solaric ships during the battle, the Iridestin activated the massive accellerator rings of their new homeworld, a system which was still in the testing phase and fled from the Solaric territory, along with their homeworld.
Recent history:
-Approximately two weeks after the escape from the Solaric territory the Iridestin arrived in a new system, a system which they had specifically searched for with the solaric long-range observation posts. The system was located around a supermassive O-class star in the outer rim of the galaxy and had a total of 13 planets in various sizes, and two vast asteroid belts one between the 7th and 8th planet and one around the system.
Ten of these planets seemed to be mostly barren, however containing a large amount of valuable resources, two of the outer ones were ice-planets, the three outermost planets were gas-giants, two of which had rings.
With the accelleration rings almost burnt out during the travel, the last thing the Iridestin did was moving their homeworld into a medium orbit around the sun, then silence returned to the system...
-Approximately a week after the arrival of the Iridestin homeworld in the system, several 'arks' were sent off from the homeworld to six of the other 10 barren worlds, to start converting them into a more usable form. In the meanwhile the Iridestin council started debating about how how to go on from the current point and how to handle external contacts, after a long debate it was decided that external contact will be ceased for the time being until the Iridestin have adapted to the new situation.
-The result of this decision were several months of silence from the Iridestin Collective, a name which had also been decided on during the council meeting.
-After coming to the decision that testing ships with iridestin onboard would be too dangerous as of currently, android blueprints which were taken from the solaric databases were used to build 'testing personell to test the first Iridestin ships, due to the nature of the experiments the Androids datacaches are regularly wiped to prevent the development of a personality, as such would mean that the testing personell would have to be considered 'lifeforms', which would make further tests with them immoral, it is planend to cease the datastorage wipes once sufficient data has been collected about spacetravel and subsequently fully integrate the androids into the Iridestin society.
-A group of white and golden ships has arrived in the system with tall near-humans onboard, while initially seeming almost hostile as due to the timing and involvement the Iridestin had with the Solarics and the Legion invasion, the group came to the conclusion that the Iridestin had no connection with the Solaric downfall and are by no means hostile entities.
In the end the 'guests' have left peacefully and even on friendly terms after leaving a device for communication here, to use under certain circumstances. According to the Councils wishes the guests will keep the position and existence of the Iridestin system a secret.
-Several months after their initial arrival in the system the first completely finished and functional spaceships were successfully built and tested, the council made the decision that it would be time to seek contact with the outer world, based on the Solaric databanks the faction labeled 'M.I.S.E.' would be currently best suited for that, the council has decided on Durendal as emissary as Excalibur is currently occupied with other tasks, several androids will be assisting Durendal in this task.
-Approximately two days after Durendals departure he returned again, having achieved a trade agreement with the 'MISE' as of currently preparations have to be made to actually support this trade agreement, but it is only a matter of time as there seem to be no major issues as of currently.
Homeworld:
"Becalis(-Ahn)"(Roughly translating to "Beacon of Light", "Ahn" stands for "one" or "first")
Information: Currently fifth planet in the system, former Solaric mining world, which has drastically changed since the Iridestins arrival. The entire planet is covered in a moving cloud of large rocks (varying in sizes from metres to kilometres), obscuring sight to the surface at all times, the planet has also developed an extraordinarily strong magnetic field which seems to be utterly chaotic upon first glance, but upon further observation apparently perfectly controlled by whatever is below the cloud.
Other worlds:
Notably all worlds the Iridestin possess are currently within the same system, which is, considering they have barely any living requirements, only logical.
"Lundra"(Roughly translates to 'blaze lands'):
[No accurate Data available]
Currently first planet in the system, due to his low distance to the star the entire surface is molten, the Iridestin used this to easily extract valuable resources which were used in the construction of their ships, conveniently the planet also had a high rotationspeed around it´s star so the centrifugal forces have been used to assist with the transport of the resources, it is planned to extract resources on larger scale from the planet in future but as of currently there is no need for that yet.
"Hallask"(Roughly translates to 'hellscape'):
[No accurate Data available]
Currently second planet in the system, the planet which was labeled 'hellscape' by the Iridestin, is a roughly earthsized planet who is due to various internal and external factors almost entirerly liquid with only the surface having a thin crust atop of only a few dozen metres at most, volcanic activity is a constant state across the entirety of the planet and additionally the planet has excessive levels of radioactivity and magnetism coming from it´s depths, due to the conditions on the planets surface mapping it is basically useless and no attempts of landing have been made so far.
"Garzak"(Roughly translates to 'great abyss'):
[No accurate Data available]
Currently third planet in the system, 'great abyss' is refering to the monumental crack in the planets surface, it reaches almost halfway across the planet and is notably filled with oxygen, heat-signatures have been detected in the depths of the crack, so the planet has remained unexplored as of now, as there could potentially lifeforms or something far more dangerous on the planet, nonetheless there are plans to make planetfall and explore the 'great abyss' in near future.
"Kiltin"(Rougly translates to 'cauldron' or 'crucible'):
[No accurate Data available]
Currently fourth planet in the system, it is uncertain what exactly is going on, on the world labeled 'Kiltin' by the iridestin, it is likely the second-most elusive planet in the system, after the homeworld. The entirety of it´s outer surface seems to be of a material looking similar to that of the Iridestin themselves, ontop of that material large nation sized plates are floating, almost akin to continents or armorplates...or an Iridestin.
"Cenhyll" (Roughly translates to 'glittering halls'):
[No accurate Data available]
Currently sixth planet in the system, Cenhyll did not seem to be all that out of the ordinary when the iridestin made their first landing, there were signs of former volcanic activity on the planet which had already ceased a long time before the Iridestin arrived in the system, upon going below the surface however, large geode like structures have been found, connecting like caves and spanning across large parts of the planet, no conversion has been made as of currently but it is planned to terraform the planet at a later point and make it a sort of embassy for other races or a residence for iridestin.
[The remaining planets have not been labeled as of yet and were merely mapped and received numbers, there are plans for these remaining planets as well, but other things have been deemed more important by the council currently]
Species:
Name: Iridestin
Height: Only known individual had been about 2 metres tall.
Characteristics: They appear to be bipedal humanoids in shape, their feet feature no toes, however they have six fingers, as opposed to "humans" they have two thumbs per hand, one on each side.
Their body seems to be made of some sort of liquid metal, bearing similar visuals to mercury, covered with plates of metal resembling continents drifting on a planetary crust.
Their head seems to be human in shape, however they have no mouth or nose, their eyes seem to be emitting glowing white light.
Biology:
-Not much is known about their biology as of yet, though considering they were traveling in an asteroid through space, they do not seem to need any atmosphere.
-As told by the individual they can survive on planets with temperatures anywhere above 0 and below 24000 Kelvin.
-Considering they have been planning to crash into a planet with their asteroid vessel they seem to be quite resilient to physical damages.
-Apparently their entire body consists of a sort of unknown rare metal, of what nature this material is, is currently unknown.
-Iridestin seem to 'wear' armorplates which are apparently attached to their 'skin' these armorplates can have any form or shape and it is not unlikely that they are not specifically for protection but rather to make it easier for individuals which are not from their own race to tell them apart.
Noteworthy:
-As seen in the first contact they are apparently communicating via the use of magnetic wavepatterns, using comms of other factions to converse with them, it is unknown wether they can also communicate directly with other races in this manner.
-Their body seems to constantly emit a strong electromagnetic field and they seem to be well-capable of controlling it at their will.
Important Individuals:
Excalibur:
An Iridestin which wears armorplates which look akin to a royal armor, making him look almost like a king on the battlefield. He was the first one the Solaric Empire made contact with and seems to be the leader of the Iridestin council and the race as a whole. After arriving in the new system he has been busy with administration tasks, so Durendal has taken on his duty as emissary. He has a kind but determined personality and his goal seems to be to build a safe haven for his race.
Durendal:
An Iridestin which wears armorplates looking akin to the armor of a royal knight, he currently serves as the Iridestins emissary and is part of the council. Durendal appears to be a curious individual and is particularly interested in foreign cultures and races. Like all Iridestin he is capable of learning quickly and uses this skill to adapt during negotiations.
Culture: Nothing is known about their culture as of yet.
Faction relations:
-Solaric Empire (status unknown, left on good terms, currently housing a group of Solaric survivors)
-M.I.S.E. (trade agreement)
Early spaceship 'prototypes':
No ships of this race have been sighted until recently, it is unknown wether they are or have been capable of spaceflight before their re-awakening.
Image of the Asteroid that entered the New Solaric Empire system (taken from outer orbit of the mining planet approximately 3 hours before impact):
Image of an "Asteroidship" as seen a few weeks after the departure of the Solaric ambassadors, it seems to be nothing more than a testing object, though they seem to specialize in magnetic and electric weaponry and their shields seem to be decently powerful...
Spaceships:
(Notably Iridestin ships do not have any specific names yet as the Iridestin did not have any need for such, nor did they have any major battles or heroes, therefor all their ships are labeled by their classification.)
'Corvette':
These corvettes have been sighted the first time with the delegation at the MISE. The corvette is equipped with several small turbolasers and ion arrays, as well as spinally mounted mass accellerators, it seems to use a form of weak gravitational propulsion in combination with ion thrusters, where the Iridestin learned how to make these parts is currently uncertain.
'Frigate':
The frigate has also been sighted the first time with the MISE delegation, like the corvette the frigate is armed with several turbolasers and ion arrays, as well as the mass accellerators, although the frigates ion arrays seem to be of better quality than that of the corvettes as their range is increased, additionally to the aforementioned armament the frigate is equipped with a spinal railgun and two ion pulse turrets. Iridestin shielding technology seems to be quite decent for their current point of development.
