Sure! That would be pathetically easy. Not sure why you would issue such an easily beaten challenge. Perhaps to prove the stupidity of their claims that I cannot? Anyway:
Missiles have advantages as opposed to other weapons. First, there's options, secondly, they can be fired from almost anywhere, thirdly, tunneling increases AoE damage greatly. They're fine weapons, but are made useless by these reasons:
A: They are fragile.
B: They Explode.
C: They're difficult to protect.
D: They're near impossible to protect against short range fire, ie small cannons and electrobolts.
E: They're expensive in every way, crew, factory, space, and price.
So now, consider, the results of a damage buff. If the buff is small, close range missiles will explode before being deadly. Small like the buff in Missile Test 2. Consider also, that a missile buff increases glass tank missile ships.
If the increase is large, and "balanced" by an wacky, and realism breaking flak counters all weapon, then the encouragement is to force close range battles. If this is done, the game devolves into a close range mess in which missiles reign supreme. The only counter to missile ships would be to blow them up quickly. Around this time the ship would already be crippled and its design near pointless. The other ship, irregardless of its design, would be blown up quickly. So the result is, a mindless cluster#### with way too much focus on missiles.
Going mid way would result in some of these problems, though not as bad. This would still set the game to the wrong path, and, in the long run, based on what I have seen over and over, ruin it.
So yes, if Walt's mad he's mad. Little do I care. He has spent over a year working on Cosmoteer, and so, even if there's a 5% chance I'm right, which by the way, it's 95%, then it's worth doing this.
So yes, no regrets. And lord, I didn't even have to use a new IP, let alone a new internet address.
I hope you see this before Walt bans this account, as he's rather angry lol.
P.S. This post is assuming the changes go down rather than up. It's also assuming this PD isn't much of a mainline tool, which it is with this test version.
So tell me, am I not justified? Not that I need your assurance. I just want to know if you agree.
