Walt Conveyors for Batteries.
This is something I've thought about a bit and haven't ruled out, though it would certainly be a major change. I generally prefer it to conduits for many reasons, but it lacks to the ability to be balanced independently per reactor size. It could be a cool feature in its own right, but doesn't really solve the "large reactor" problem.
As i understood it the larger reactors create more energy-cells for less credits so thats tehir upside - but their delivery "could" take longer because they eventually are more central in position.
I think these pro and cons could totally be balanced enough (even without a conduit system at all).
Nice to read that you even prefer "upgraded" conveyors to conduits!
nop Also when conduits are impassable it would probably even be hard to NOT compartmentarize because with an eleborate conduit system that would create a true corridor labyrinth!
This is a really good point. If you have a single central reactor with conduits sprouting from either side, all passage between halves of the ship must be through the reactor room. Railguns create similar choke points. To build with one big reactor you'd want to put it in the front or rear behind a big block of armor.
This is even more problematic for reactors then railguns because reactors ar mandatory (excluding the cute drone battery ships ofc 😉 ) and so you would have to create the conduit-corridor-labyrinth on each and every ship = sry do not like 🙁
@Walt So if there will ever be a seperate conduit system -conduits should also double as corridors i.e. Soul passable in every direction! Esentially like conveyors but for batteries.
Tbh i could imagine cosmoteer without cables/conduits pretty much!
Maybe conveyors will be just more popular and or will get more functionality when new reactors are out - and everything will be fine!
(conveyors sounds so muddy - "transport tubes"? 😉 )
