a silver pulse shoots outwards from the ship, passing through objects as if they were not there as it appears to be not a weapon, but another type of energy field, as it passes through all ships nearby the crews sense a period of disorientation, then suddenly hear a loud humming, as the immense power causes harmonics in their ships hull, everyone has a sudden feeling of reality being somehow intensified, as if waking up from a dream, and as the High Imperium weapon activates, the pulse expands out to encompass the ships, the weapon fizzles and dies, it's power systems overload, and the ship explodes, superheated plasma boiling out and engulfing the other High Imperium ships before dispersing, all is calm, and once again the EL and the Combined defence fleet stare at each other across the ever decreasing void between them
