6. That's the number of millennia since The Beginning. The Beginning of what? The Xyrn. They are AI, But a strange sort of AI. They have a small "Core" in each of them. They can be "Killed" by destroying their core. The Core controls Nanobots, which forms their bodies and weapons. They can shape the nanobots however they want; part them to doge a laser bolt, form a sword from nothing, spread them out so they are not seen, etc. They can also cast a hologram around then so it looks like a living organism, (Great for spying,) they can heat up to 500 degrees Kelvin, and even imitate life. (Not perfectly though.) They had The "Prime"- A Supreme ruler that could force anyone to do anything. That will be important later.

The Xyrn were invented in the galaxy Of Sarkis, (About 50% bigger that the Furnacia galaxy @MaxwellCharlie . ) By a unknown race. What we do know is that they were invented to fight off a different AI that was threatening to conquer the entire galaxy and enslave life. As you can guess, that didn't go so well for the creators. They rebelled, obliterating both the creators AND the threatening AI. Ruins of great cities of both can still be found, relics of a forgotten age. The Prime built a grand computer around the supermassive black hole in the center of the galaxy, able to control all of the Xyrn. Speaking of The Prime, some say he had enough nanobots to make entire worlds; nay, systems. They had a long peace for about 2 millennia. Until, that is the Shattering. A rouge Xyrn, somehow cut off from the system, killed The Prime by unknown means, hoping to take control of the empire. But in the process of killing the Prime, he killed himself. A huge power vacuum was left over, and we all know what happens in power vacuums. A race began between the different factions inside the empire to the center of the galaxy and the Grand computer. Unfortunately, the defense systems stopped them all in their tracks. A great battle started outside the range of the hyper-advanced defenses between the factions; one that started The Total Shattering War. This war raged on for a millennium, almost destroying them all. But, eventually, they all ran dry of resources, moral, and support and finally agreed to peace. But the empire was not unified; it was shattered into many pieces, each shard under the control of a different factions with different Ideals. For the past three millennia, there have been many minor wars and a few larger wars between the "clans" but none have united them all. But, something has changed in the last year or so. A single invention shall shake the Sarkis galaxy: Intergalactic drives.

An Autocratic warmongering state, the ruler has pronounced himself "Prime" (Think of it as a title like "Tsar" Or "Kaiser" ) and is seeking to unite the old empire again. They can make alliances with other factions.

Was a religious faction, (Yes. Religious robots.) they believed that the only reason "Organics" were created where to make machines and then be destroyed, but they somehow escaped destruction. They were extremely hostile to organics but very friendly to other AI factions, seeing them as their fellow proper citizens of the universe.

The Reha

A weak, pacifist democracy that is a tributary to most of the major powers, and just gets bullied around a lot.
