PewPew My reason to be here was not to prove wether a or several gods exists or not, but to make, even if you don´t believe into them, at least tolerate other peoples opinions, though as you have stated...
PewPew Normally I might have agreed with your desire to maintain the status quo, but here is an attitude we can not afford anymore. We need new defenses to get through this crisis.
...you most likely wont even do that.
...sighs... Regardless of that, now to rectify some of my former statements...
"I suppose you mistake this "god" that I reference, with a religious artifact, instead what I reference is the possibility of a race that some humans would compare to "gods" due to excessive knowledge, technological advancement or control over other factors, the heliocentric theory was chosen for the framework of the humans knowledge of that time, not to say "you should consider earth might be the center of the solar system".
While what I have to note on the rest of it is: Do you think even the half of those rather questionable individuals (or more likely the leaders of them) actually still believe in whatever they might imagine as a "god", or is it just the constant manipulation, or giving in to other human desires under the cloak of religion? While I agree that extremistic religious views have and always will be an issue and should be definitely exterminated or least brought to a tolerable level (of religion not extremism), do you think it would stop by telling them "well your god doesn´t exist because..."
Would it also mean we would have to forbid technological advancement in various directions as humans have proven several times that they indeed manage to abuse nearly everything when they see fit and get the chance?
The issue is not the idea of a god, it´s the human that uses or abuses it to whatever extent or reason, if they learn a god doesn´t exist they will find other ways or reasons, even if the problem in the grand scale might decrease
you cannot force your thinking or ideals onto someone that doesn´t want them, trying to change their opinion would be just as difficult as changing yours if not even more difficult, as in case of extremists they have grown up with this view of the world from their childhood and surpressing other peoples opinion and believes will (in most cases) not bring you peace without excessive amounts of violence (regardless of it being an average human being or an extremistic human failure)."
While I might add, I don´t give a fuck wether a god (in the religious way) exists or not, if he/she/it does?
Well, congrats to him, to making what is most likely one of the most self-destructive races the universe has seen. Would I worship him because of that or just about anything else?
Unlikely.
If he doesn´t exist?
Well, would that change anything really?
