The ships comes across a massive ring, a station, however there is something unusual, a massive sphere,easily dwarfing the size of a sun, made out of... mirrors?

The scoutcraft move up to very short range of the station, with their very limited weapons deactivated, and begin taking scans of the station, the mirrors, and whatever is on the far side of the mirrors (spoilers probably a black hole)

The captain suddenly realizes what this is..

"It's a black hole power generator!"
one of the crew responds with,
"Sir, i don't get what you mean."

The response is,
"Basically, you build a mirror sphere around a spinning black hole. Send a continuous stream of EM waves at the mirror, making sure that only a small portion of it will hit the black hole. Then you open a few parts of the mirror sphere, and then you'll have energy for trillions of years!"

The captain, excited about what he could find, scans every square inch of the mirror and black hole.

Boiled_Cabbage (I actually used this idea once, the Voidborn @Undated_Abyss encountered a massive ring-like structure with a mirror and black hole in the middle in one of my first events. It was a power source.)

The massive ring is covered in what seems to be Quad Railgun Batteries and bears a flag recognized by no one.
