STE space is horrendously quiet today.
Its like something came and took every living being away. Although automated processes and mining continue, alongside fake civilian chatter.
Huge warp signatures lie where outer rim stations once sat in orbit of a local planet.
The occasional civilian ship drops into systems by their star but quickly leave again via echo jump.
A faint ticking sound is broadcast over comms near planets.
Its clear the STE where prepared, but not prepared for the zerg...
The lack of even Anhysbys signatures is unsettling, or would be to any normal attacker...
As for military ships, there either are none in the outer regions, or they are doing a spectacular job of hiding themselves.
Even with the lack of any opposition, it would take days if not weeks to reach the core regions due to an unknown FTL interference seemingly limiting non-Echo drive based FTL to 15ly per jump.
