They look humanoid but are actually not.. This is actual first contact.

As the ships landed, they would see a somewhat fat-looking ship and a longer, pointier ship, both of which were landed. The cockpit to the fat looking ship opened, and a being waved at the landing ships. That must be who they were talking to!
