It'd be great if you could grab stuff with the select tool as well instead of having to move them one by one or copy paste to move stuff.

Do you have anything in mind for how this would actually work?
The way I see it working is if you click on a part that is already selected then you "grab" all the selected parts (basically the same as "cut", but more convenient).
I imagine it works the same ways with selection only that a grab UI button is added to the copy-cut-paste bar. The only difference to cut is leaving corridors behind instead of removing everything. With this feature available the current grab UI button could be removed in exchange for one extra click on the new UI button. Making room for a new feature that would be convenient for diagonal building: Diagonal selection.
