The sub lets the shuttle dock, and opens the hatch. The captain and a few of the crew await on the other side, looking through the cramped opening.

Two people step through the hatch. A small, bearded zaltzi, who introduces himself as Kilian Wiegand, and a mustachioed Gamilas.

The captain of the German Boat steps forward, extending his hand out.
"Kapitänleutnant Kurt van der Wiese, glad to have you on board. Your name, Mister Wiegand, it sounds German, vhere are you from if I may ask"

The boat is - for the Germans - cramped, for the guests easily traversible though, except for the ladders, which are quite a number too large for normal human sized people.

"It is my family name, and where I come from is none of your business."
He seems annoyed, as if something about the submarine bothers him.
"Now take me to the engine room."

The Kaleun looks towards him, taken slightly aback by his unneeded rudeness.
"Something wrong?
...
Zhe engine room is along here, follow me please."
He turns to his first mate and whispers something in his ear, then beckons the two to follow through the narrow pathways, the Gamilas and Zaltzi seeming like children of size in the boat.
He leads them down a stairs and into the engine department, in which a loud idling sound could be heard.

At one look at the machinery, he scowls.
"NO! NO! NO! This is NOT how you do this. NO! NO! NO! You idiots!"
The mustachioed man, upon seeing what he is looking at, facepalms.
"Oh dear. It seems that this is worse then I thought."

The Kaleun looks at them in a mixture of insulted and confused.
"Vould you please explain vhat zhe problem seems to be?"

The engineer scowls at him.
"You may have the ability to submerge, but you cant stay there, you need batteries, enough to power your entire ship until you surface."

"Vhat are you talking about?"
...* he pauses, regaining his composure and breathing deeply once.*
"Ve are using nuclear fusion to power our subs. Zhis works in real space and in dimensional travel. To cool zhe system ve rely on passive cooling on low speeds and in most dimensional travel and on active cooling during faster travel speeds. Should zhe reactor fail ve have batteries vhich can supply zhe Sub for up to two weeks of power on low speeds or half a week going AK - All Power . So I ask again. Vhat is zhe Problem?!"

The mustashed man looks curious.
"You mean you can... generate power in the in-between? I thought that was impossible."

"Vell.. I am a mere Capitain Lieutenant, so zhese things are beyond me to explain, but yes, ve are able to keep our engines running in zhe otherworld, though it is more stressful on zhe engines, and zhey take quite zhe toll if you push zhem too hard."
He shrugs.
"Zhe Tech is still in development, so maybe it will blow up sometime in zhe otherworld but you know, zhere are always risks involved."

The engineer relaxes, apparently glad that you are on the same reality as him.
"Oh it will, it will. Still, it technically works, but takes SO much fuel that its really much cheaper to use batteries, and to use the extra funds to build resupply stations."
