klun222 Bounty hunter's so easy and repetitive though, even on admiral difficulty. If that's all there was to the game I would've stopped playing ages ago. It's playing against other players who design clever ships that's actually interesting - all the default bounty ships are badly designed and badly piloted (cause AI). It can be fun to play casually, and there's something very satisfying about slowly building up a ship. But there's definitely not much challenge to it.
klun222 (eg. 1000000000 guns and 5 trusters, 10 layers of armor and again 5 trusters, 1 cannon factory for a ship worth a million, then 500 canon storage and so on)
You should actually watch the tournament before complaining - sometimes people try designs like those first two and they don't go very well. Ships start empty as well, so you can't just mass storage.
Bounty hunter on the other hand.... you can kite for ages, or build massive gun walls, or do all kinds of stupid stuff. I used this ship for example, to beat the bounty hunter challenge, which is going from amateur->professional->veteran->elite->vanguard without stopping to farm credits (https://forum.cosmoteer.net/d/3798-bounty-hunter-rush-challenge). Missiles are disallowed in the challenge, since kiting would make it way too easy. This is the ship I had after beating my first/only vanguard zone.
For 618k, this beats basically everything except the terror (if you're very very careful with how you fight) and can make at least slightly more money than it costs to repair. But it's a cheesy ship that only works in bounty hunter, it would seldom work in multiplayer vs human opponents, and it would never work in a tournament because ships start empty.
klun222 And no, about half of ships used in tournament wouldnt work elsewere.
Every single one of my tournament ships can beat every single one of the built-in ships in the game (again usually excluding the the terror), despite only costing 1mil. That's how I test them when nobody is around to multiplayer with.
