I agree. Back in December, my first lore event was up for an hour or so with dozens of messages by the minute. However, in my newest lore event, I've only managed to get two replies within a span of weeks.

Let me tell you the story of Gimbal...

Will, an absolute asshole, he played the game with glitched ships, and cheated constantly, and then went and called people names on the steam forums, this, slowly killed the dwindling fanbase, until eventually the game was truly dead, and now if you open up the game you'd be lucky to see one server with humans on.
I've only ever played with one person who was on in my quite large play time.

That game suffered from something else: multiplayer only.
This means the game will never come back to life.
If cosmoteer forums did die somehow.
It would be possible people would still play the game, and then make a mod or post a set of ships.

But yes, the forums have entered a stagnant phase of lack of activity, due to "veterans" leaving and no nubs joining as YouTubers are not playing this game as much I don't think, and if they are their subs are not coming to download it, as well as making mods seeming like a bad idea due to the incoming changes.

But we all have to respect, that one day in the coming years after the steam release (hopefully) fixes this, these forums will enter this phase again, never to exit it again. Then, we can truly make threads like these, and said threads will have more meaning than one now ever will.

ShakeshaBererund Tbh i more or less true, like back when i joined there was a lot more people, some left, some isnt very active anymore. But the community isnt totally dead, i mean there is new players and mods, but some gold stuff from the past are gone. I myself arent very active anymore (discord and school shit) but this community isnt dead, yet, so the best we can do is keep it alive.

ShakeshaBererund Mod development has halted in anticipation of the 0.14.0 update. I am assuming many modders (like me) have already got their 0.14.0 compatible versions ready, and are just waiting for the right time to release them.

I agree but i also think that it should be taken into consideration that a lot of people have exams at this time of year, so that may be a reason,
also though, i agree, idk why but posts just seem to, well, stop recently, like good morning cosmoteer, the last post on that has been one of mine for like two or three weeks now.
all i can say is thank goodness we have people like @jbox1 , @EpicJp21 ,@DocSlime ,@Drakador_Chaos and @RandomCommander to keep things going.

First, thanks for the mention.
Second, I do myself notice that everything has died at almost one point. I'm rarely the one to start something going, so Offworld is kinda dying as well, take into account the mentality of people over these 6 million years: why expand when we live gloriously under an immortal and trustworthy leader?
Third, I just like Offworld too much to ever abandon it. Factions that did nothing to be remembered are now forgotten, take for example GoCo, XA Empire, PROD, even the mighty Chalcanthite Court is forgotten. Nobody wants the same to happen to their own faction.
Fourth, I will probably not make another faction as I'm not quite interested in Cosmoteer as a game as much as in the RP. I have some very reasonable RP history of Starbound's Frontier server. Sadly, it has gone downhill very quickly, but before it was well-regulated, very serious and generally a pleasure, as well as not requiring to have as much online time as possible. You could have a character appear every weekend and people won't say anything, whereas forum folks would probably get upset if someone is not responding within a day.

Tson @ShakeshaBererund I have created an idea, which as all ideas go, definitely needs some polishing, but I think this just might work! Why not have a representative democracy? I mean here are some of the ideas I have in mind:

*A moderator could sticky a discussion called, "Election" where the cosmoteer community would vote for a leader of the forums (spew out ideas, help "lead the charge!" on ideas, pretty much has to be creative, and has to have strong determination, etc.)

*The person who is elected has to run for presidency, for example, they have to give their ideas on what they will do to help further the community if they are elected.

*They have the backing of the Moderators, as the moderators will be some sort of "judges" to see if what they are doing is an acceptable thing to do or not.

*The President can step down whenever they wish, as some people lose interest, and it isn't their fault for that.

*The President will have his own sort of icon next to his name and picture, like the "Moderator" and "Master Builder" icon, to let people know who he is.

*The President can make special events (of course if they are allowed by the moderators...).

I am still working on some of the other key points, if you have anything else to add to this, go ahead and let me know.

I honestly think this might be one of the best ways to help further the forums and help Cosmoteer grow, not only as a game, but as a community!

And to answer your question, no, I am not running for presidency if this does work out.

While the idea itself is good, I suppose that it could definitely be improved.
Mods barely care about lore and RP as moderators and not as common users, for instance yobeefjerky does RP, but does not regulate it as a mod, so if this is to happen, it should be regulated by the community itself, as a judge that does not care is worse than no judge. Stickying the discussion is IMO unneccessary, let's say a new user comes to the forums and wants to share their ship design, but is welcomed by an election to the face. It does not have to do anything with the ships, or the gameplay itself, and I think that sticky discussions should be entirely about ships and the game itself. I like the idea of RP being one different world running on the same system and the actual game being another different world. As such, people not interested in RP, such as Dalas, panda and a few other famous shipbuilders may not entirely care about it, while people like me and possibly others more or less ignore the game and run two versions behind for mod compatibility.
Otherwise, this idea definitely has a good chance if properly executed.
I would suggest a large, strong faction run by a proper President and a parliament, maybe even embassies. This way, we could not only have ourselves as forum users in the lore, but have proper space republics and space democracies.

DocSlime Yes! I totally agree! Like I said, it would have to be polished, but I completely agree! Do have any ideas on how to spread the word without sounding like a complete idiot (like me......), I mean literally, if I made something for this it would fail miserably.

If it means doing less labor for both people, I would approve it.
If it means doing less labor for one person and more for another, I'll think about it.
If it means doing more labor for both people, most likely no unless it is just so much better than what was originally done.
I say no, and while rewriting a wall of text would give me even more practice in English, at this point I'd like to reduce this "practice" and not rewrite it.
Don't think that you are doing bad, you have not done bad if you done only a little good and not as much as expected. Good is still good.
