Something I've always liked about Elite:dangerous, is the tourist beacons. So I will dedicate this thread to all of the wonders of the Cosmoteer factions.
Feel free to submit ideas below, they can be:
Interesting Places,
Capital planets,
"landmarks" as in unique stars, Dyson spheres ect.
Events, such as a portal opening, or a war.
Preferably it needs to be something on the forums, so it can be linked in the beacon.
Think of this thread once it is complete as a catalogue of cool places, a tourist brochure for people new to the forums
current beacons:
"unknown" anomaly @Sombreroman :
This "totally top secret not a Dyson sphere" is a structure, split in two halves, planned to encase the sun in it's system. Why build it in two halves? So it can detach once the star has run dry, then proceed to find a new star of the appropriate size and type. Currently protected by multiple factions, and one such faction is the ISC. Unbeknown to the ISC, or anyone visiting for the first time, is it's potential use as a weapon, to magnify a sun's light to fry entire fleets. Another such use of the sphere is as a giant shipyard. Although, most groups asking about the object have been given multiple different answers. Location Here, Beacon last updated 23/04/2033
(note: any faction joining this event knows nothing of it's existence, so ignore this, your faction knows only what sombrero chooses tells you.)
Eight Pillars @FangTheCat :
A sacred place in the middle of Tribal Territory, Visited by newer leaders.
they are eight massive pillars that orbit a small star. all at the same speed
IWO Headquarters @the_guy545 :
The former headquarters of the IWO, now abandoned and run down. It was abandoned after the fall of the IWO, and briefly used as a temporary headquarters of the UG, but once again abandoned.
Mora @G4L4XY :
The Crigonean Empire's planet which holds their first military base. This moon is covered in snow and ice due to the lack of sunlight and extreme -temperatures. Upon the Moon's ice ridden surface lay countless wreckages, keeping the history of their battles alive in the form of cold steel. At the equator of the planet is a large, spacious crater with a superlaser kept hidden deep within.
Desolation @Gladiaxa:
Directly at the epicentre of the ancient Voidborn galaxy. In truth it is a colossal black hole that houses the center of Darkness worship and the headquarters of the faction, the planets around the black hole are gigantic gruyères gnawing inside and totally uninhabitable. Often Debris of huge ships can be seen entering the black hole, never to see the light of the universe again. The system is surrounded by an immense black veil that makes the place invisible to those who do not know its exact position. No human being has returned without being part of Darkness, and only the most brilliant shade tribe could describe it to us.
Krag boombox :
A small planet in the outer regions of space, you would be forgiven for standing in shock and awe at the landscape of rolling hills, upon which vast scenes of fluorescent flora dominate the landscape. The vast but small planet is dotted with many town's, such towns are tightly packed full to the brim with old style shops, all in a old style of building long forgotten by the rest of the galaxy. Often to get from A to B one must go through tiny passages, often going through the gaps between buildings. Alongside the glorious surface, Krag is home to numerous small, snuggly cave cities. Often built in a similar manner to those aboveground. To say Humanoids are the deadliest fauna on Krag would be ill-conceived, the fauna on Krag is well adapted, often with a greatly acid resistant stomach lining to allow the creatures to eat some of the more well adapted plant life. This beautiful planet lives off of tourism, and we urge you to head on over for the holiday of a lifetime, just don't go too close to the wildlife.
With high Regards, the Karagarian Government.
Testrion-24 @May_the_Harpy:
The HE station christened Testrion-24 has become somewhat of a museum of ships, housing ships dating back to even the wet navy, Testrion Station is a one of a kind place found nowhere else in the galaxy. And is sure to have something for everyone.
Pagasi 33 @yobeefjerky :
Pagasi 33 is the primary ship-construction system of the ISA. There are 2 of 4 Sena style Mega-Shipyards in the system, the smallest of which clock in at around 1,202 Kilometers in radius. Split between the two Mega-Shipyards is the ability to build almost 7 Million ships simultaneously. This system is a monument to the ability of Humanity to explore. Estimated number of ships constructed by Pagasi 33 based shipyards is in the billions, a number exceeding that of multiple factions shipyards combined.
Vira @yobeefjerky :
A ringworld surrounding a neutron star. This system was colonized in 2342 by early human explorers when their slipstream drives failed to correctly navigate a current, bringing them to this ancient ringworld. They eventually made contact when the ESG Yukon detected massive power signatures in the Vira system in 2788.
The Tau Remains @Jenwuf :
Once a thriving system, with around one trillion Tau-people to call it their home.
A once great planet had been built upon, so it's surface was a giant shipyard, however it's creators made great efforts to conceal it beneath a thriving ecosystem, with many people calling the place home once it was possible to inhabit again. This however, all changed when [REDACTED] invaded, whereupon the shipyard in disguise's atmosphere was torched in a flash of light, and now all that remains is a mass of molten steel.
Alongside this event, all other planets where destroyed as a contingency plan, now all that remains of the system is it's name, trillions died, millions continue to suffer on through the depths of the great black void.
Dart corp built a shipyard moon in ISC territory to commemorate the loss of 99% of their species, however it is nothing in comparison to what they once where, and it will take years for the 30 million remnants to grow to even a percent of what they once where.
Carnivore Prime Station @Sombreroman :
Once owned by The Carnivore Pirate Group, This Massive station is like a Luxury Liner in space! The Same size of The Carnivore's Old Capital Ship, Alpha, This Sphere of metal Stores Many Living Spaces with brilliant Aesthetics, A massive Arcade, a Bar, And even a Massive 6-Star Restaurant, With the old crew still going even after the Carnivores fell! Carby's Also has a Takeout. But, Food can be a little pricey. Finally, An Old Hangar for ships was half used for a Museum of Carnivore Design- The Carnivores were brilliant engineers for the Scum they were, so why not let the next generation learn about their high-flying adventures filled with Greling Gauss N' Green!
ISC headquarters @Jenwuf :
The ISC main building has become slightly redundant as of late, due to The introduction of the majestic class. however the building itself should not be underestimated, as it is the largest building in any of the ISC held territory, although this could partially be down to the typically low population count of Tau-space.
The building consists of three main tubular pieces connecting to a main dome shaped area, somewhat akin to that of a trident. The main dome is vast, easily the size of a majestic class in length and width, this area contains a garden, with four buildings on each corner of the dome, and three round buildings connected together rise up to meet the spires above the dome. The centre building contains a museum, containing various artefacts from the ISC's adventures. The other buildings contain training and housing facilities for troops and navy personnel.
The entire structure is lined with decorative heat panels, that glow a bright white for decoration, and to keep the three nuclear reactors mounted in the spires cool.
Mystery Object spotted in several systems simultaneously @Solarwatch :
Notable systems include Markon, in which the ecumenopolis of Markonus, the capital of Mikrelia, is located, Jonadi the home of the former Jonian Rebellion, and Mortor. It has a cool name.
One such location can be found here
