A "kiter" is basically any ship that tries to keep it's distance from enemies. A missile kiter is the most typical example. Missiles have more range than any other weapon, so a fast ship with missiles can stay forever out of range of cannons/lasers/ions while still shooting
Dalas120 Ah, so essentially a sort of long-range-sniper-ship-thingy?
the_guy545 Yes
Oneye Well, if that was a person on a Call of Duty map, and they just camped everywhere, it would get really, really annoying...
the_guy545 I have never played an FPS in my life, so I have know idea what you mean...
Oneye What the what?! Never?!
the_guy545 Nope.
Oneye Interesting...so you’ve never played COD, never played Battlefield, never played Doom, never even at least played Minecraft?
Oneye Well it’s fine, everyone has their own tastes in things.
the_guy545 I used to play Minecraft, but you don't really "shoot."
Oneye You have a bow and arrow, you shoot it.
Oneye The logic of an FPS shooter:
ImTired 360 NO SCOPE WITH A BOW
the_guy545 Often kiters are lightweight, or boast powerful reverse thrust
jbox1 So essentially a hit and run vehicle
the_guy545 As @ThatAngryMan would say, ITS BEING A PANSY
the_guy545 No, kiter is not hit and run, kiter is still running away while in his fire range, but you ship cannot reach its fire range.
the_guy545 More of a stay out of range and fire back at enemy. Think Scout VS pyro on an empty battlefield.
Mc2 Ok, now I get it
But where didn’t the term “kiter” come from?
the_guy545 Because I mite just kinda flaps around...idk
the_guy545 from Kite,it is always pushed away from you (good kite of course) 😃
