The Alveare (Latin for "hive") are a robotic hivemind. They Were created when a mad scientist by the name of Alimar Natoro created the Alveare hivemind to take over the universe. The main hivemind was a factory, creating millions of small mining, fighting, and commander ships, all controlled by what we call today by the Ultimate Queen. Then Alimar went on a rampage, invading about 3 planets before he was killed. He was not killed by opposing forces. He lost control over The Ultimate Queen, which then killed him by ordering the fighting ships, now called soldiers, to destroy his command ship. they now are taking over system after system.
How the Alveare Work
1. The Ultimate Queen creates a juvenile queen, which warps away to another system. (Since it has FTL drives.)
2.Using It's laser, the queen mines ores and uses them to build a Worker, which does the work for her.
3.Using the material, the juvenile queen builds herself up to a adult queen, scrapping her FTL drives and mining laser, then makes more workers and soldiers.
4. The queen then tries to get as much material as possible to make more workers, therefore purging all the inhabitants to scrap there ships and mine their planets.

The harvest asteroids and planets and gives the resources to the queen.

Queen/Juvenile Queen
The queen is a large factory, making armies of soldiers and workers, all to get more resources to make more legions. The juvenile is smaller, with FTL drives and a mining laser.
The Ultimate Queen
The only thing we know is that this controls the entire hivemind, and is what creates Juvenile Queens. There is only one in existence.
