REPORT ONE, TERRITORY WISE
After a while of silence, It is becoming widespread news across the galaxies- This huge graveyard is picking up popularity. There are small groups of scum, large groups of pirates, and... A galactic alliance of sorts? It's become clear that it is a good idea to avoid the massive fleets collecting ships, Especially Surgeon Research's alliance, composing of the Zenioth and Cross Mining Cooperation. On another portion, The Carnivores and other pirate gangs lash out, creating a perimeter of hell no ship wants to go to, lest they want to be annihilated. The calmest area is that of the criminals. Just a few people coming either for a quick buck or to get a big ship. As the hands of the clock move, everything is becoming more dangerous. There are only three areas:
The lower portion (43% of the Ring, Comprised of few hostile foes, slowly "Grazing" on the capital ships)
The War-Torn portion (30% of the Ring, a place where about every meter has at least one projectile in it)
The Surgeon portion (27% of the Ring, a place of quick work and a major threat to whoever wants ships)
Luckily, everybody early found themselves in the Lower Portion. There isn't much competition here, give or take a few mercenaries. Here's what to do with each portion in the time:
Lower: Nab a couple ships as fast as you can, but don't go too aggressive or you'll be on the diagram and in the crosshairs of enemies who see you as a threat.
War-Torn: Unless you can take on hundreds of capital ships, fighters, and boarding parties, do not come here. You can however try to steal a few chunks of junk along the edges of this portion.
Surgeon portion: You can try negotiating with them and work beside them, possibly even getting a ship or two and some money, or you can try to take them down before they establish a foothold. Keep in mind these people are aggressively taking ships from the sector, so maybe the smartest decision would be picking them off and freeing a larger portion of space.
EVENT WISE
The ship on the surface of the ice ball is emitting signals. These have little pieces of a bigger puzzle with them, which may be complete inside the ship's data banks. It may contain surprising galactic secrets, strange beings, or even... Blueprints for superweapons. Also, of course, there will probably be blueprints for ships and possibly credits too.
However, the real icing on the cake is potentially discovering the molecular structure of Sundiom Steel, one of the hardest and lightest materials in the known universe. Discovering this will net you a near infinite amount of credits and also make you known through the universe for eternity... Assuming you can find a record for it, and assuming it's even there.
One other event was a mysterious change in the mass of the planet. Scientests guess this is due to the giant ship on the surface still being in production with the last of the planet's energy, and also the fact that Surgeon research is converting the D2O snow (Heavy water) into H2O snow (Regular water). This will cause two things:
-Reduce the weight of most of the planet by a third
-Make the snow a lot less lethal to drink constantly (If the human body has half it's weight in D2O, it will die)
Other than that, a last event to cover was a weird box randomly appearing a good distance away from the planet. Scanners record it releasing a non-lethal wave of radiation upon appearing, but it otherwise just suddenly existing. Weirdly enough, this box almost looks like a flying billboard, advertising a movie by aliens oddly similar to a movie made on earth a few 50-60 Years ago today in 2065.
As "Starmas" Approaches, it's been a long year in this galaxy. Lots of deaths on the casualty list, as usual... But everything is looking hopeful in civilian sectors far away from these wartorn areas. Recently, the Bacterial disease Hageritin has been announced extinct, (Save for one frozen sample) everybody is getting their regular smallpox vaccine, and most importantly, gifts are at an all time high, same as the average pay of a galactic civilian! We cannot wait to report more.
(Quick thing about the smallpox: It's actually the space replacement for the flu now, as the last frozen sample of the virus infected a station not far from the original solar system. However, with the average human immune system bolstered in the space era, this lethal virus is now the replacement of the flu in space.)
