BattleCruiserCommander meanwhile, somewhere on a trade route
Captain Quin Doo dee dah! Bum-tee-bum!
Captain Quin was piloting a Cyber Cruiser Empire civilian freighter, loaded with various artisan goods. The crew was below deck, currently chowing down on a hearty lunch. A nearby vessel was nearing starboard. It hailed.
Captain Quin Hello there fellow captains! What buisness do you have?
No response
Captain Quin Hello? Is this thing on?
The silence was eiree. The other ship was closing in gently. It seemed highly suspect. Captain Quin turned on the PA system.
Captain Quin This is Captain Quin, we have a bougee on starboard. Remain alert for further instructions.
Captain Quin stayed on course, but the vessel drew nearer. Then, the radio silence was broken.
Captain Phaser This is Captain Phaser of the Sunken Iris, your ship and cargo are now ours!
Captain Quin Shit! All men on deck! We are under attack! I repeat, under attack! Man the cannons!
Cannon shells began raining from the Sunken Iris, and several FTL signatures were inbound. Furthermore, shells were not the only thing the Sunken Iris carried. A small fleet of bombers were released from the ships underside, with intent to make a straight beeline to Captain Quin's freighter.
Captain Quin's crew launched a volley of lasers and cannon shells in response. The small, nimble bombers easily dodged the cannon shells, but the lasers easily disabled a number of them. Both ships sheilds began taking a severe strain with the intense fire from each other.
The enemy cannon fire began to slow, they're immediate ammunition must be running short. They might actually have a chance. However, the bombers were not dealt with. A few lucky hits put a dent in the hull, but they were still alive. Might they actually defend against this raid?
Unfortunately not. A flash of energy appeared out in space, followed by half a dozen more. Leaving in their wake, a fleet of fighters, and what looked like one hell of an electro bolt.
Captain Phaser You like her? We call her Georgia. She's taken out entire space station's subsystems, hope you're ready for her!
The giant electro bolt began spinning up, and it was a matter of seconds before they were doomed. A volley of cannon shells was redirected to "Georgia", which began making their way towards the ship. Seconds turned to minutes, the shells traveled through the empty void of space, shooting past various fighters and lasers, past debris, towards the giant spinning electro bolt. They were mearly meters away.
But it was too late. The electro bolt discharged it's shot. The cannon shells connected the instant after, disabling the Georgia. Meanwhile, the electro bolt shot across the void straight into Captain Quin's own freighter. It connected and shot accross the whole ship. Light bulbs exploded, sheilds sparked and shut down. Everything went dark.
A few more seconds ticked on. Was it really the end? Seconds agonisingly passed. Captain Quin was desperate for anything, a noise, a light, a smell, anything to help him comprehend what was happening.
chonk
A low, long chonk reverberated. A pirate vessel had successfully docked with the freighter. A hissing was heard, they were coming.
Captain Quin knew he was no match for a band of pirates. He dashed up into the main helm, spun round and yanked on a big red lever, the emergancy blast door mechanical override. Quin sweated to pull down the heavy lever, and with it the door. Lucky for him, the lever gave, and the blast door locked shut.
??? Take everything you can!
A laser blaster rang out. Captain Quin moved to the ship's circuit breaker box, to try and make an attempt to bring the ship back online. In the background, men shuffled around, and grabbed various loot. Fibres, plants, alcohol, drugs, firearms, technology. If it could be sold on the black market, they took it. Captain Quin was flicking various switches, hoping one of the, would restart the ship's systems
??? All clear! Move out!
Further lasers were fired. Quin kept trying his best to make sense of the circuit breakers. More hisses were heard, and the pirates were already departing. Quin flicked several more switches, and the lights blinked on for a second, before the switches flicked back again. Quin went back, and tried the proceedure again. The pirate vessel undocked.
Finally, the ships systems turned back online. The crew made haste, and immediately went back to manning the weapons. Cannon shells rained again, but it was too late. The pirates wasted no time, and jumped out of the system.
