Chain: army of drones? You don’t mean.
Chain and Jack’s jaws drop

I was planning to wait for the right time do do this. I got bored so here it is:

It was a normal day for the Scavangers, or whatever passes as a normal day for them, when suddenly, Tim receives a transmission.

There's no visual and whoever is on the other end doesn't say anything. It's just silence.

Tickytickytango The Scavangers are currently in Raizan territory, we have a planetoid in quarantine, and now rouge AI drones are mining our moon. Could this wait?

I was going to wait for all that to get cleared up, but I was bored.

Tickytickytango fair enough, but the AEGIS incident has died down. The Scavangers will come home, after The Drones Of The Lost Fleet relocate themselves...

The signal vanishes.
Tim wonders what that signal was and gets an odd feeling that he may never find out.

Tim hates never finding stuff out. Luckily, he had the chance of triangulating the source. It may not be accurate, but it will enable him to see the signals origin, or at least in which territory.

The signal seemed to be coming from a location in space where there is little else of note. No factions control the area and no star systems are near the source.

Tim considers this for a moment and comes to the conclusion that he could jump to the area the transmission came from without consuming very much fuel.

Tickytickytango he does so, I guess (even though he had already used up his anual leave)

Hoping Chain won't notice his absence, Tim jumps to the area the signal came from. The source is not difficult to spot, as there is nothing else nearby.

The ship's systems seem to be out of power. And scans show no life signs on board.
Oh well. Maybe there will be some good salvage on the ship? If there is, Chain will probably forgive him for going to investigate.

But that leaves some questions.
What is the ship doing so far from any notable systems?
Who sent the transmission?
Where did the crew go?
Why do I only get one leave per year?

There's only one way to find the answer to these troubling questions.,. except the last one, the answer to which may never be known.

Tickytickytango Tims annual leave is 5 weeks, Don’t ask me how he used it all up already 😃. Tim attempts boarding of the craft. If possible, he will try to get the ships systems online.

Boarding the craft is not difficult, as it seems to have been made for human use, it had an entrance.
The ship seems to be technologically advanced. The ftl drives are small, as are the shield generators. There is a strange chamber toward the back of the ship, the purpose of which cannot yet be determined, with one-way glass windows looking in on the chamber.
The reactors on the ship, which are also small, seem to be powered down but a small amount of power could jumpstart the reactors and get the ship running again.

As the power winks on, Tim notices the computer. Perhaps information on that could solve this mystery.

Tickytickytango Tim is no shy person to hacking, but if he knew anything, there is a sticky note with the password on the fridge. Also check the fridge for food (he forgot to have lunch)

Tim waits for what seems like an eternity for the computer to load, hoping that what he finds will be worthwhile.

At long last, the bar is full. A few minutes later, the loading screen is replaced with
ROOT> dir disc1 mission objective.txt log_0.txt log_1.txt log_2.txt log_3.txt log_4.txt log_5.txt Chrome cosmoteer.exe
Tim supposes that he should select a file to open. The mission objective and log files could contain information, but that Cosmoteer sounds like fun, not to mention all the possibilities the internet has to offer. After all, it's not like the files are going anywhere. The choice is Tim's.

Drat! that didn't work. Then again, why would there be internet connection out in the middle of nowhere.
Tim closes Chrome as Cosmoteer finishes loading, but he quickly gets bored without the community to interact with, so he opens up Chrome, thinking to log in to his account, which is Jbox1, and deal with an event that was occurring when...
